I know for a fact that it essentially controls your life as a whole, changes you as a person on the long run, makes you do irrational things when put on the spot, makes you more prone to criminal activity in hopes of satisfying the appetite for your next fix, the list goes on. And this is just the surface-level stuff. Each to their own how one starts their habbit of use, many do it out of past trauma in an effort to cope with themselves, some fall for it through recreational means when trying new stuff or doing something for long enough. Its also not just drugs or other similar substances that can get you hooked on something. Addiction in on itself is a wide concept that consists a variety of habbits, most commonly being associated with drug and alcohol abuse. But then you also have people that are addicted to things like sex, sports, attention, gaming, excessive eating etc. The way i see it, addiction is a state of disease one can be cured of if the person in question is truly willing. Seeing how majority of those who use substances have hard time even acknowledging it to themselves that they have an issue, may initially spark some sense of pity for me. But seeing them take advantage of their situation in the worst possible ways, quickly dissipates any sense of sorriness for these people. And in comes frustration, dissappointment and spite. I may know a thing or two about the overall nature of Addiction, having worked with people who have it for a number of years now.

Use your brain and put in the point of view of the cops in situation like this is very stressful them shooting will cause a shoot out which might cause civilian casualties so they show a high amount restraint to an armed criminal so shoot out wont happen or one of the cops missing a shot that might lead to casualties so they try to deploy the tazer for less risk

Did you watch the same video I did? So in the video you watched the police just randomly shot a sleeping man huh? In the video I watched a man woke up, acted disorderly, refused to obey lawful orders, had a weapon on his possession and led the police on a foot chase.... and somehow the cops are the ones who "escalated" it. Sure. Sure they did.

Given that he was already surrounded by officers, running away seems absolutely impossible. However, the fact that he actually escaped might indicate that the suspect's state of mind was abnormal.

This is why when I worked the streets, I took it with a grain of salt any time someone said, "I have a condition" or "I just had shoulder/knee/back/whatever surgery". Inevitably, 9.9998 times out of 10 whenever someone claimed that, they'd either fight you or run away...but then of course after they loss it was "Oh man, I have a problem with my *insert body part here*, please be gentle.". I applaud anyone who is a police officer now. I certainly miss the work, but not all the other stuff that came along with it
