It's certainly heroic that this happened while he was trying to help his nephew, but that doesn't absolve him of being an issue in the past, nor make him a Saint. As someone who survived a serious accident, almost died, only to next almost lose my leg. 5 surgeries and back to normal. When people say “you’re so strong” or I couldn’t have done it” Yeah you would have. And I’m not special. You don’t have a choice. You don’t complain. You just deal with it and move on .

There skills one learns when in and around heavy machinery, this is an example of a quick lesson on Safety. There was an OPP ONTARIO POLICE OFFICER who was sucked or pulled by his arm into a regular walk behind snowblower like an 8 Horsepower, he apparently reached in to unclog the auger while it was running, he was found in the morning dead. Happened out in Orleans Ontario in the 80’s. Just another person who never read the Safety Manual or paid attention to those bright Orange and Black colored stickers depicting a person having their arms CUT off in the Auger / Blade keep out area…..Stupid is that Stupid does!
