Hello Martin, Your videos have been amazing to absorb. I have been restoring crystal items professionally for over 25 yrs in the Twin Cities Mn. I have repaired some plaster, stone and pottery more lately as well. Earlier I was into restoring stained (art) glass, about 3000 projects. Hxtal is a favorite, and I buy my 1/2 pound kit from HIS Glass out east. After years of experimenting,, I believe that I have perfected invisible mend on most glass items. I did order your silver kit that you used in this video for a silver wedding server. I generally use 60/40 solid core in lower temp projects. You are so generous on techniques that must have taken years of efforts, you are magnanimous ❤and a real inspiration. My many thanks to you Martin!

Always amazing work, you have been my teacher. I'm about to use cold glaze for the first time on a lladro. The cold glaze is rather thick what do you use to thin it down and what is the ratio that you use. Thank you.

Thanks! I'm glad you find these videos helpful. Use their Sylmasta PT 146 thinner to dilute the cold glaze. Thin to your desired amount. If you intend to spray it from an airbrush, use the thinner in a 1 to1 ratio. Good luck.

I dont carry PT 146, hxtal works just as well and saves hundreds of dollars.

I have an old table lamp which is made of glass (painted pale pink). It was broken and now some little pieces are missing. How would you fill the gaps? Is there any putty for glass?

I made a couple of videos on how I repair glass objects. You might find an answer there. Here are the links: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGTQp3qBp5uAm9E kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqSpeo2Bf7t6hrM

I've already ordered Hxtal :) I still have questions. Have you tried to mix it with any stain? Have you tried to warm it up after it cured? If I want to retouch that lamp after gluing and the paints need to be baked at 200 (150C), what can happen? Epoxy usually gets soft in high temperatures and the piece can fall apart again.

@@huanghouWuZetian I haven't tried heating Hxtal higher than 170F. You should do a test on some scrap material and see what happens. Please post the result of that test in the comment section as a benefit to others. Thanks. As far as coloring the Hxtal, there are dyes that work but I have yet to use any of them. Color matching this way is very difficult. Sorry, I wasn't much help on these questions. Good luck to you.

Hi, can I ask what do you suggest on very old porcelain, which is full of small cracks but only on the surface (like a cracked nail polish, so not real cracks).
@marsgitar
@marsgitar 11 ай бұрын
we call those cracks "crazing". It is not a flaw. It is normal for some kinds of ceramics and is sometime stained on purpose to make it stand out. If it is stained, sometimes it can be cleaned using a peroxide solution (soaking over night). If that doesn't work, it probably can't be cleaned. Do not use bleach.

@@marsgitar thank you so much, I see, OK; well it's about around a hundred years old (or 90) beautiful lamp with figures, looks so alive like an event being catched. These tiny little surface cracks are not on purpose, it's just really quite old. I am not sure peroxide would work this case...I try to investigate what can be used and I will wait, it is still extreme beautiful big old lamp :)
