Michelle, another great video! A couple of points: 1. Somehow this video felt even more immersing (better!) than previous landing videos. Maybe it's the cameras' locations and switching between them. 2. It's surprising how shallow is EHAM descent. You stayed at 5000/4000 feet for miles! 3. You need a new aircraft, the way the top of dashboard was moving at landing made it look like a WW1 plane :)

I am sure there are rules and regulations working for an airline, but one thing I love, when I watch more General Aviation youtubers, is they almost always have full ATC recorded. So the viewers hear the pilots communicating with each other as well as any ATC communications. I understand if it is not possible, but if there was any way to include those, it would make these even more special. Even the ones that include ATC are usually not monitoring busy Bravo Airspaces, as GA flights are usually routed around them, so it would be great just to hear all the other chatter you are dealing with as you land, at a large airport, as I try to follow along as well.

@@BillAnt - as she takes the plane to Pier D, this must be a passenger flight. Pure cargo planes go elsewhere on this airport, not to passenger terminals afaik. Not making announcements must have fallen into the editing out cracks. I Guess she was co-pilot here and the other person may have made the announcements. I was wondering the same thing about the dash vibration. Seems to me this will wear out cable connectors in the dash faster than desired - but it my be catered for in the design and component selection (that said, considering how Boeing cut corners in recent years, I feel this needs very good monitoring from the airline's maintenance dept.)

A picture of calm competence! As a retired RAF transport pilot I rarely watch aviation videos nowadays but occasionally I need a fix and this did it for me. Great camera angles. The only additional thing I would have liked to see was the stand entry guidance system. This was hidden by a windscreen pillar. It was very helpful to include views of the STARS and the taxiway layout. I have often flown in and out of Schiphol but never as an operating pilot. My daughter flew for 13 years as first officer for Flybe until shortly before that airline's demise then for about 18 months as first officer with BA on B747s before being made redundant because of the effects of the pandemic. She then worked briefly on the shop floor of a supermarket before returning to BA on the ground in the LHR cargo department. She has now just been offered a position as B747 first officer with Longtail cargo airlines and thus avoids having to join the BA low cost operation planned to start at LGW which would have been for a minimum of 5 years during which time she would not have been eligible to apply for another BA long haul fleet at LHR which is what she now hopes to do in due course. I am happy for you that you apparently managed to avoid the dreaded Covid redundancy epidemic.

I have flown in and out of Schipol many times as a passenger and it was great to see a pilot's view through the cockpit window. You did a brilliant job of landing and parking - the Captain should have more faith than clinging to the dashboard lol. Have you ever flown into Birmingham (BHX)? I know that can be tricky especially on a windy day. My house is under one of the flight paths into BHX and sometimes there can be a stack of planes circling and waiting their turn.

Did a AMS-BHX several times in the Dash when FlyBe was still around. It also is my all time favorite aircraft in the sim and learning to exactly fly it on FlyBe’s Standard Operating Procedures I sat next to three friends and when I yelled V1..... Rotate.... Acceleration Altitude, set RPM 850... and the aircraft did exactly that one or two seconds later. One of them asked “need to tell us something we’re not aware of you do for a living”

Preferred airports for flightsim: Innsbruck; Sion; Serajevo; Salzburg from the South; Nice; Zurich

After hearing the various pilots on KZbin talk about go-arounds and the reasons for them, it's comforting to know that if the plane I'm in does a go-around, it's because the pilots are putting everybody's safety first by not landing unless they are 100% sure about it.

Suddenly, it was like a giant hand pushed the nose of the Cessna down hard. I had to fight the instinct to pull back on the stick because I was coming in without power. I would have stalled. I pushed the control yoke down slightly and made the landing. He and I both kissed the ground that day as we exited the aircraft! That landing had to be a little scary in gusts like that!

Mooie video! Blijf het indrukwekkend vinden hoe je zoiets de lucht in krijgt en hoe het weer aan de grond komt. Echt wat een mooie baan heb jij zeg! Nog veel veilige vlieguren/reizen toegewenst

Hi there. As a lifelong fan of aviation, I never tire of videos like this. But what sets you apart is your production and editing skills, they really are second to none. Thank you for sharing your flight experiences with us and the effort you put into your videos. It would be rude not to subscribe, so I have. Thanks again. Stay safe and fly well. Simon

Yeah you have to taxi a long way when you land on the polderbaan.. its like you've landed in haarlem and have to drive that thing down the A9/A4 motorway

Great video, well edited, a little suggestion may be some shots for the artificial horizon, would be good especially in the turns over your way-points. Waiting to see more good videos from you cheers.

Extremely standard! Very nice Captain Michelle! I suspect you chose this video to post because of the landing, which was one of the best executed ones I've ever witnessed. That's just it with any Boeing 737: don't do anything with pitch until you reach 10 ft. After that it's just power off and flared it. Nicely done! A very interesting thing is the tiller on the right side. I didn't have that luxury in my first officer days... What about the docking system at the gate? Is it ground configurable for the 737 right seat? Best wishes from Brazil!
@DutchPilotGirl3 жыл бұрын
Hi Roberto, thank you for your kind words! Nope the docking system is remotely activated by the ground crew 😉 All the best, Michelle

05:27 see how skilled you are. Not just turning the knob with some fingers, but using the other fingers as stebalizer of your hand!
@cbc75992 жыл бұрын
Well, I noticed this because as a electronic specialist, I have to turn from time to time on knobs on e.g. an oscilloscope.

Great video Michelle,the captions make it easy to understand the different phases of the approach and landing .I have an ex Ryanair cockpit I’m converting into a simulator and when I fly it I’m keen to learn the procedures correctly,thank you and keep the videos coming.

Hi everyone, hi Michelle, Amsterdam schiphol is my favourite destination while I am from there to but not living there. Amazing Netherlands!!! Next video could be an approach video of Geneva which is my current home. The video is nicely added with such a nice comments for the aviation enthusiast. How many hours of adding it takes. Hope you and your will colleagues are keeping up in this difficult corona circumstances. Thanks!!! Frank

Thanks Frank! Yes it takes a while to add the comments but I feel it's worth it. Will try to record a flight into Geneva! All the best, Michelle

As a passenger, I always feel a sense of relief that we've landed. How do pilots feel when the wheels touch down? Are they somewhat stressed till that point?
@davidandjessicaclay23333 жыл бұрын
The stress can increase at that point particularly at an unfamiliar airfield with a long taxi route that has runway incursion hotspots. Only by the time the engines are shutdown can there be relief. Even then you will be preparing for the next sector.

@@davidandjessicaclay2333 Yea, each time they quip to each other " We cheated death again! " ;-)
@EvanAviator3 жыл бұрын
@@pattyhaley9594 No, because nothing they’re doing is dangerous and pilots aren’t scared of flying as that would be a big issue
@markg79633 жыл бұрын
Pilots don’t really stress over any one aspect of the experience. For us it’s a continual chain of actions and expectations. We are constantly doing everything we can to manage what is about to happen and control the situation and keep things inside our comfort zone. Sure, if you have to land in really shitty conditions we are happy that that is behind us successfully, but until we are safely at the gate and shut down, we don’t really let our guard down. Taxiing on a large airport is an experience full of perils if we take a wrong turn, can be fatal for many. Normally flying more than 2 or 3 legs in a day so even at the gate we are already moving on to whatever is next. It can be very busy, and we need to stay focused. Emotion, worry, and stress are best left out of the equation, for they solve nothing and only contribute to distraction.
