Hello, how do you do. Here is a short snippet of how we deviate and go around storm clouds but this time, unlike a previous video, we will be using the heading select function. In a previous videoI showed you how we use the OFFSET function in the FMC (Flight Management Computer), to parallel our route to keep clear of weather. On some occasions, it is also practical to use the HEADING SEKECT function to change heading and fly round any storm clouds. That is what this snippet shows. Hope it makes sense and you like it. ‘Chi Di Gin! Later!✈️✈️✈️✈️😀

I remeber wondering how pilots avoid weather mid-flight. And thanks to you, now I know. Keep up the good work captain.

Another informative video as always! Would be great to see a complete failure of all hydraulic systems to showcase the redundancy built into the 747-400 😃

Thx for this snippet. The presentation of the weather on ND is a vital information. But when we think back to the early days of aviation: without all those sophisticated gauges, it must have been an adventure to navigate thru and around bad weather those days.

Easier than doing it old school with the e6b and dead reckoning

Thank you Captain. I am building a 747 sim at home and find all your info really relevant. I was wondering if you can do a video about controls, specially the force you need to use to move them during take off, cruise, and Landing. I know it is a dynamic thing, but having a ball park estimation when rotating and landing, in the most common configuration would be highly appreciate it 👍👍👍

How is it that fighters are so much more simple? Don't they have much more to do? It's odd that they don't have this level of weather SA

What would you do Obet if you want to change direction or altitude higher/lower to avoid the weather clouds but you are not able to communicate with anyone on VHF or HF frequency?

If you have no communication at all, you can deviate but after more than 10 nm from airway, you should climb or descend 500 feet

love it...what about how to use the FMC to go direct to a waypoint further down the track? What would that look like? Thanks Captain! Have a great day.

Thanks for sharing Captain 😃. I've a question, which is how to know that you need about 60 miles off track for avoiding weather, is that appears in FMC?

Thanks, Skipper. Must it always be a track deviation or can the flight crew also request to climb or descend?

Hi Cap! Absolutely great info! I could relate to what I have studied about AWR. The AWR panel was so relatable with what I from textbooks...as in the tilt and mode controls. I was wondering why would a TCU or CB show up almost completely Green. Does it make it any safe to fly through as the green colour would indicate no turb?
