Slat retraction isn’t based on the number of minutes in the air. This flight was heavily loaded with fuel and passengers, and also speed-restricted in the Frankfurt airspace. So the slats remain deployed until ATC gives the crew permission to increase speed, and the slats are no longer needed.

She was heavy. I was on LH 747-8 JFK-FRA loaded to the gills flaps came down once we hit FL200 we were cleared direct FL390 and it got up there quickly. I'm pretty sure takeoff power was 100%

Been on LH 747-8 Upstairs Business class 4 times what an unbelievable aircraft inside and out. JFK-FRA 1.5 hours early we were right under Mach 1 so smooth and so fast. Don't like these new A350 & 787's aviation is looking boring with all these twin engines
