You know why great scientists die so early.... Because they didn't own a fume extractor... . . . . Please get yourself one, the fumes coming when soldering are hazardous and can prove fatal in long run.... Life is a prescious gift... Never loose it! Keep it up we really appreciate your work... You work very hard I have personal experience building airliners.... When building you get thousand problems, but there are solution for each one.... This hobby requires a lot of creativity and hard work... Thanks and I'm waiting for P4!

Incredible work as always Ramy! It looks like this project is moving along about a thousand times faster than the 777 so it would appear you learned a lot while making that airplane and are now able to more efficiently use those techniques here with the 787! Just don’t go too crazy with the fiberglass this time as the weight on that monster could easily balloon out of hand!
@thetruth1.6134 жыл бұрын
Hats off to you sir. I don't think many people understand what skill sets are involved in a project like this. Engineering, math, craftsmanship, art, physics you name it. Awesome series, bravo!!!!

Having owned and managed a model shop for over 25 years, I realised how rewarding and skill building rc and many other forms of model building were to many younger people. It’s a shame that in Australia anyway, that the interest in the general hobby field is fading away. The benefits of modelling I think is not even measurable. There is no doubt that many great engineers etc, were involved in some form of modelling in their younger years. Congratulations on your fine skills, hopefully your can inspire many new comers to join in this amazing hobby.

I've never looked at any build videos of yours, but now I am in the middle of my first scratch build. I've seen plenty great builds from you and RCDemonDriver, but never thought I'd be building an airliner. I so want an airliner and I can just picture mine flying already. Seeing FT build their new Corsair using the curved foamboard technique made me want to use it. I'm trying to go quick through my first one, and still making it strong. For my fuse shapers, I used foam plates and it will be wrapped in poster board. Pictures are being taken. I like my techniques, but not trying to reinvent the wheel either. I'll take a few from you and thank you in advance. Man this building is energizing. Should be ready for or spring. See ya Ramy. Best, Josh Weaver

@Ramy RC: Could you perhaps explain a bit more about the fibre glass you use? What is the difference between the black one (at minute 11:00) and the white one (at minute 12:10)? And what is the liquid you put on it? And how hard is it after it dried? Can you perhaps show with a little piece of it how hard it gets after it dried?
@iforce2d6 жыл бұрын
The black would be carbon fiber and the white is glass fiber. The liquid is most likely epoxy glue. Plenty of info on the net if you search for these names.

What a PROJECT. Your work is reminiscent of Mike Patey's Draco build - an EXTREME Polish bush plane. Mike got his 3400 lb Wilga to take off and land in 100 ft. Wing flex I was thinking of tapered spars with kerfs cut in them. A compressible adhesive could fill the kerfs. Your approach looks to have achieved your desire.

Awesome...just amazing...such big elegant wings...and strong too...7:52 for a second I thought you were painting it black...and 8:12 what material is that...foam?...and thickness?...3mm?

Looking beautiful, can't wait to see this bird finished! Would also be cool if you could maybe 3d print some fan blades modeled after the real ones and strengthen them with fiberglass? I don't know if they would handle the forces imposed on them but if that worked, it would add so much scale appeal to the finished jet. Either way its gonna look beautiful and I can't wait!

I thought you were going to do the wings differently. I know it has to support the weight but i expected to see spring wire or spring metal in the outboard portions of the wing for flex (it can still be stiff)
