Congratulations to you, LTC! I, too, logged 5,000 flight hours in my military career, but did it in UH-1 helicopters. Because my Hueys had only a 2-hour fuel load, I got to perform more landings than you did. Also, much of it was performed below 50 feet of altitude, and while wearing night vision goggles. And once in a while people were shooting at me. I believe you when you say you don't know any pilot who doesn't love flying the B-1B. I can say the same about the grand old lady, the Huey.
@twoZJs10 жыл бұрын
OK, settle down guys beating your own drum, the Colonel's achievement was brought forward by Boeing. This is all Boeing's announcements. Send your logs to Huey&Company and we'll watch the vids. OH! by the way, what service, what action and what was the goggles model number? Usually most night LRRPs, SEAL drops were much further than 2hrs and most were done with the 'Jolly-greens', just sayin. Maybe there are a few Marine Huey pilots here on this thread that will know when heavy night-vision ops began?

My military service was serving in VF84 Jolly Rogers. My squadron CO surpassed 10,000 hours in 34 different aircraft. That was an incredible feat, and at the time a Naval record. Congrats to this guy. 5000 just in one plane is a great achievement. And thank Boeing and President Regan for providing this wonderful aircraft.

I was in RAF Farnborough a few years back for a couple of weeks with the Air Training Corps, I can tell you the B1-Bs engines can defiantly wake you up at 4 in the morning. Even when your on the other side of the base. What a spectacular machine!

I heard this thing has a larger payload than the B-52. The Lancer is absolutely incredible!

Incredible! What an accomplishment, what I would give for a chance to have just 1 flight hour in the B-1B. The B-1B is one of the aircraft that inspired me to become a pilot.

I ALSO have a problem with BOEING claiming the fame of the ROCKWELL designed B1-B. Credit should be given where credit was due and NOT because BOEING bought out the original company and ASSUMED the remainder of the aircraft program life.

Audi would never claim Lamborghini's heritage even though they own the marque, would just plain be weird for everybody lol. That said this video is more about the pilot and less about the bird, servicemen and enthusiasts know the deal :)

I've heard that the B-1B uses servo controlled cannards to smooth the ride for the pilots. Does any of that technology make sense in commercial aircraft?? I get sooooo tired of the "Fasten your seatbelts" sign during minor turbulence.

Loved them bones, All the cool squadrons were disestablished,,,VF111 The Sun Downers, Gone, VF-1 Wolfpack , gone, VF-142 the Ghostriders, gone my Dad's old Vietnam A-4 squadron VA-32 the Black knights a now long gone. Sad to see but it is what is...
