Fourteen years after unveiling its first commercial spacecraft design, Boeing celebrated the arrival of its Starliner capsule at the International Space Station (ISS) on Thursday.
After one final challenge, in which flight directors in Texas ordered the crew to abort their first attempt at docking due to issues relating to small leaks in three of the spacecraft’s thrusters, the vehicle docked with the ISS at 12.34pm EST as it orbited 240 miles above the Indian Ocean.
The launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, was a milestone in the US space programme and commercial space industry.
