The reason they do this is a gentlemen's agreement of sorts. They know that an attack on another aircraft manufacturer's reputation will cause the flying public to become more afraid of flying. This would cause travel to be reduced and airplane orders to go down for both manufacturers.

I'm not going to lie, airbus can be VERY comfortable and efficient because of the fly by wire. However personally I would rather Boeing. Main reason, you feel more Bad ass with the yoke. I mean look at the first officers arm in the 737 vs the captain in the airbus. But that's my personal preference, airbus is nice too still

Yoke has you more active and aware of your surroundings during the most critical phase of flight, allowing for a quicker reaction compared to fly-by-wire which following the Emirates incident shows its easy to overlook things when you get used to it

Idk how a yoke make you more aware of surroundings. You look outside to be aware of surroundings. And which emirates incident? They had several incidents, 3 of them involved 777s, which btw are fly by wire with yokes so...

Boeing’s yoke is better because the yoke’s are linked to each so the other pilot knows what the other pilot is doing unlike the side sticks on the airbus ,, that’s what brought down Air France 447 if the sticks where linked there’s a good chance that disaster could have been avoided.
