I live in Northern Illinois 20 miles outside of Chicago. I have to bring all of my carnivorous plants inside for the winter dormancy period. We are firmly in Zone 5, and if I left the ones in pots outside during winter they will freeze solid. Some have said that ever this will not kill the plants, but I want to be on the safe side. So I have an upstairs bedroom which stays upper 40s lower 50s which makes for good dortmancy conditions. I also have another bedroom with fluorescent and LED lighting to start the plants up again in spring as I'm doing right now. Too bad I do not have the room for the bog garden as you do....but keep making the videos!!

That’s a sarracenia leucophylla. I think it’s a hurricane creek form but I’m not too sure

Thank you Domi for the bawggg tour I must say it's impressive. But on TOP of all those beautiful Sarracenias the Bog lilies struck me most!! 🤩🌺🌺. They are outstanding creatures amongst other lilies that are well known to be aversive to poor drainage. Please tell me more about them!! I'm waiting to hear. M.m

I live in Arkansas zone 6B. During summer my Venus flytraps always burnt up in the sun outside. So I ended up leaving them in a shaded area outside and would get maybe two or three hours of direct sunlight. Somehow that ended up being good for them as they started growing traps again but the traps haven’t been as big as when I first bought them (they’re Venus flytraps from a local seller). So I’m just wondering if maybe next spring/summer they will grow big traps again.

What material do you have at the very bottom of the bogs?

I'm not sure where you are located, but the mention of cooler weather has me wondering. How do you winterize? I'm in central Texas and would love to add some carnivores into my system but it does freeze here. Thanks in advance.

They sarracenia and Venus flytraps can overwinter outside just fine. I lost a few during the winter, but most did just fine. The sarracenia pupurea really do well. The venus fly traps in particular need the dormacy anyway.
