Still obsessed with this one. Probably one of my most worn frags. Classic 70's masculine green. And I agree 100%. There's a depth and earthy darkness in Bogart that isn't there in Paco.
@ScentsOfSouthJersey2 жыл бұрын
Yep that’s exactly what I think now that I have had a lot more experience with both of them Bogart which I initially sidelined when I first got it two years ago and it really grew on me over time and surpassed Paco IMO

@@ScentsOfSouthJersey I've been smelling Paco and Bogart Sig a lot these past few days. Bogart opens up more citrusy and spritzy like here I am in your face and I smell good. Paco smells more like a bar of pine scented soap. Paco is more laid back. For me, Paco wins. Proof I just replaced Paco with a 6.8 bottle even though I still got a fresh bottle of Bogart, I'd replace Paco Rabanne Pour Homme first.

I'm a 61 year old fragrance newbie and I've had trouble finding scents I felt worked for me and my age. You have been a big help, and this review in particular turned me on to the house of Jacques Bogart and, as I looked deeper, seventies and eighties "powerhouses" in general. I know it's not the one you reviewed here but yesterday I received my bottle of One Man Show (love it!) and I still plan to buy Bogart Signature. Thank you so much for this!

I grew up wearing Drakkar , Polo Green , Aramis , Lauder for Men , Oscar De La Renta Pour Lui. I’m in my 50’s have some newer stuff Sauvage Parfum and Le Male Parfum but gravitate back to these 80’s scents. For short money I’d suggest Lapidus Pour Homme , took me a few wearings to get used to it , now I adore it. 2-3 sprays and it’s on you for 10 hours

Your enthusiasm for this vintage fragrance has put this on my short list of frags to purchase. I'm 45yo. I have 2 bottles of PRPH. I think D & G Intenso is a modern day barbershop frag which I love too.

Nice review Kelan. I haven’t yet had a bad fragrance from Bogart. The house needs more love. People write it off too quickly. It’s clear the 1973-1980 time frame of frags is your prime spot. Cool to see a few houses interpret that green soapy scent like Paco Rabanne pour Homme and even RL Polo Green before the tide of animalic notes entered the Frag arena in the 80s and then freshies took over.

Funny reference story for you. Back in high school I used to work at a local drug store. I’m 53 so I have a few years on you guys Anyway I used to stock this scent, Bogart signature on the shelf. The price was 6.99. and the year was 1987. I still remember me and my friend that worked there used to make fun of it because we thought it was an old man scent. We used to say Bogaerts, what’s this Humphrey Bogart‘s cologne? 😂 then again me and my friends didn’t like anything outside of the big 3 at the time. I didn’t discover Gucci Noble until 1988. The big three at the time was of course Halston Z14, Polo green, and Drakkar Noir. We would get cases of Bogarts, along with Brut and Jovan’s musk and we used to have to stock the fragrance aisle in the health and beauty section of the store. It’s crazy I’ve never smelled this one until 2023. I’ve known about it all my life but I’ve never had or smelled it. I’m so glad I did. It’s an amazing scent and I missed out on it back then, but I was so close minded as a high school kid. Lol

I am through my 3rd bottle of this awesome cologne, very mossy-green and a bit of woodiness in the background, I am a vintage and old fragrances lover and fan; I wear only those old fragrances from the past as I cannot enjoy the new sweet-flowery and girly scents that new boys wear nowadays, I really like this fragrance and I am getting another one as soon as I finish with the one I have at the moment; but if you allow me, I would request (if possible of course) there are two fragrances also that I really like and I wear all time, they are from the house of ANTONIO PUIG (QUORUM my most beloved and used fragrance of all times), and belong to the same line of dry woody chypre-mossy and a bit of spice/herbal in the opening; they are AGUA BRAVA EDC and BRUMMEL EDC, this would be great if you could have a review of these two manly and macho colognes. cheers mate.

Just a thought but perhaps you could do a video on the most masculine modern scents ...if there are any lol. Or maybe not because you channel is pretty awesome just the way it is. You could do a video much like the video on the drakar family, except it can be the Paco rabanne pour homme family. Because Paco rabanne pour homme, bogart signature, Halston 1-12 all smell so similar, but I love them all! Also to a degree Oscar pour Lui ( smells like Paco rabanne with musk) and one man show. And that one that you mentioned before that starts with a k. They all smell like they're from the same family. All are great. But I think Halston 1-12 is better than both Paco rabanne and bogart signature...as long as it's an older 1-12. Because if it's a 2020 formulation it's not as good as the newer batches of Paco rabanne and bogart..but the older 1-12 beats them all. A way more mature darker version of that DNA. Great video as always!

After wearing this one a few times I think I know why it just doesn't land with me. There's no sweetness whatsoever. There's no contrast. It's just dark green mossy herbal spice that kind of comes off like pickled peppers to my nose. Don't get me wrong, it's kind of nice after it settles down after a few hours but it's still boring and hard to wear for me. It needs something. Maybe more citrus or honey like Paco Rabanne has. By the way, I think that honey is what makes Paco Rabanne. That little bit of sweetness. Most barbershop fragrances have at least a subtle sweetness. Bogart doesn't have that at all. I took the chance on Bogart based on the comparisons to Paco Rabanne and I just don't see any.

I just got this one in the mail, along with Cerutti 1881. I hate both. Lol! Oh well, I am glad I only spent about $30 for both. Bogart Signature has a very unpleasant smell to my nose. It's got this weird pickled pepper vibe that I can't get past.
@ScentsOfSouthJersey2 жыл бұрын
That’s unfortunate, I loved cerutti 1881 as soon as I tried it, signature however I initially was not impressed with and tried it again about a year later and I had a totally different opinion on it and really loved it. So maybe revisit them both in a while
@dustybryan912 жыл бұрын
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey The Cerutti was in mini sample bottles, so maybe they were bad? It had a very musty smell to me
@ScentsOfSouthJersey2 жыл бұрын
@@dustybryan91 could have gone bad it is citrus based. I’d definitely try it again, a new bottle isn’t much

After drying down, Bogart Signature is nicer. Still not my favorite green scent by a mile though. By the way I love Mason. Margiela's At the Barbers. It smells just like the damn barbershops I went to in my childhood. I also have a sample of Invasion Barbare. I love it. I plan to buy a bottle of Dua's clone this week.

I tried going to the eBay gent you strongly recommend for vintage decants and it looks like there is nothing for sale anymore. Is it is possible to still buy from him somehow? Thanks!
@ScentsOfSouthJersey2 жыл бұрын
There should be unless he is having an issue with ebay, if you have an Instagram go to “mcbagsamples” page and you can go to his eBay link from there or message him from Instagram

Looks like the store will be back up on Monday, I just checked with him. So go back on then and you should be able to purchase anything. He is out of town at the moment
It's a leather fragrance to me. Leather + birch = russian leather. Btw it contains real oak moss, check the ingredients list.
@ScentsOfSouthJersey2 жыл бұрын
I think certain version contain real oakmoss, this one is a bit newer and does not have that listed on the ingredients list but I still smell it for sure lol

Just received this today along with One Man Show. Both are fantastic, Signature has a broken lid!! Seems like the only weak thing about this fragrance…

I love the soapy aspects of this and Ofcourse how cheap it is. But I can't get past the piney parts of it. It's just a bit to piney for me. Not sure if maybe I will eventually get used to it and like that facet of it.

Wonder if you could layer it with another cologne to lessen the pine smell 🤷🏻♂️
