I have one of these and absolutely love it. The dry tone is pretty dry, but when you put some delay and reverb in the effects loop it quickly becomes awesome. The "variac" switch is miraculous. I get all kinds of wonderful Satriani and EVH tones out of this thing.

I agree, but I also don't like Friedman's pedals, which I believe is all these amps are, pedals with a Class D amp following it. Man, the days of giant honking tube amps are numbered...
@Mike_Jones682 жыл бұрын
@@Xyrium no I would not agree...there's still no replacement for the big tubes. I think what you may be more on par with is moving forward in the future people are more willing to accept "good enough" adequacy to replace the highly expensive tube amps that only tailor towards 1 or 2 tones (minus pedals). Plus the audience nowadays is really lackluster in what truly is music so they wldnt know the difference between what sounds are coming out of the speakers being a tube amp or class d digital. Believe me, you will never see tube amps being replaced ever.
@Xyrium2 жыл бұрын
@@Mike_Jones68 I think we've been seeing the evolution of the recording and gigging scene over the past decade as Kemper, Line6, etc. have taken a strong foothold. Now the advancement of amps that take advantage of lower power consumption, and cleaner Class D power, along with excellent tonal shaping capabilities, I can't see how tubes can last. Overdriving the amp section of a tube amp 100 years ago was the only way to get a gritty sound. No one does that these days. The amp sections are simply coasting far below being distorted, and there's a distortion circuit built into the preamp instead. That's no different than what you're seeing here. No artists are relying on their amps and cabs to provide sound in large venues, it's all mic'd up.
@gl36052 жыл бұрын
It's the best one of these amps for sure. All are good though. He didn't even show the best feature on this amp..the onboard variac for an amazing Brown sound. Shame he missed it.

The pros and cons are interesting. To be honest, if I were gigging right now, I'd buy two mini Ecstacys and one mini SLO and do a Wet Dry Wet rig with three 12" cabs. Maybe 2 12 inch cabsL/R and a 2x12 for the Dry signal up the middle. Anyway, no 4x12s for this, although they are glorious where called for. Free The Tone Future Factory into Chase Bliss CXM 1978 on the Bogners L/R as Wet. SLO dry up the middle. I really, seriously might buy two Mini Ecstacys and a Mini SLO just to try this. Three Bona Fide amps for under a grand? Bravo.

He doesn't want to say it himself, but this sounds better then a lot of the valve heads he's demod, if it feels even half as nice as it sounds, it's as good as sold.

Well Ive owned it for two months and its exactly what you describe in the “wrap up” Summary- Its CLOSE to havin a true bogner tone but its downfall is it gets muddy after small wattage. Its definitely a cool idea but at least preamp tubes would be cool. Im gonna try a Victory pedal 4 cable next i think. The ss power section in effects loop is pretty impressive.
@firdeye26813 жыл бұрын
Looks like an egnater tweaker. Sounds better clean than driven but for SS not bad at all. I like these new SS heads and fender tone products but the price seems steep for being like i said... solid state. I can buy a used tube head for like 300-500 bucks that would blow these away so idk. Maybe someone would like it for in the studio, low volume stuff. Also id love to see a friedman be od pedal vs the mini amp and a bogner ecstacy red vs the mini as well

@DreidMusicalX2 жыл бұрын
Im a person, even though the amp sounds killer. If it doesn't have two channels of clean and gain, being able to use a foot switch, effects loop. The amp is then pretty useless to me. I know how to roll the volume down after 36 years of playing, but I find it aggravating in this day and age when we have the technology to do so and instantly when needed in a song to come to a sparkling clean tone is a must to a high gain in a split second. Rabea understand what I am saying and its why he has the big boys behind him that do it. I mean if you're learning to play, its great and I wish we had these little monsters back in the 80's when I start playing. The smallest decent amp that was cheap was a Marshall mini stack, I believe it was 15 watts I used to have. Just never could get really nice gain from it. It was not until I got my first JCM800 amp was I truly satisfied in an amp. But it was so damn loud!

The Bogner signature sound comes from British EL34 roots but flattens the mid high peak and boosts the low mids. Consequently, the Soldano signature sound comes from American 6L6 roots but cuts the low mids and boosts the mid highs. Little wonder why their solid state emulations ends up with them sounding VERY similar to each other
