Great demo Rabea as always cheers😊 I think after so many years this still stands strong 😊

In my opinion, FRFR are not necessary for real because you will use internal monitoring system or in-ear. If your are running small gigs at bars or something like that and the others members are playing real drums and amps it's like to have two different sounds on stage. I had a Yamaha DBR, DXR, Atomic CLR, Headrush and never fully happy, now i have a Fender Tone Master that is better but at the end of the day it depends about the kind of stage, bars with wood floor, open stages with concrete on the streets, etc. My conclusion is not to be obsess with the sound. Your amp, frfr or whatever will sound different on different stages.

Its overkill mic'ing up a p.a. into a p.a....it can be done for sure, but it requires an astounding set of lug holes to get it phased properly! lucky me!
@LIKEFUNK8 сағат бұрын
Your tones are nice mate, a big bit too wet in my lugs personally for most of your atmospheric/ambient/spacious print though, to get amp in the room try reducing the size of the room via your weapon of choice, amp in the room remember! not auditorium in the smaller room mate.

They seem to have a strong tendency to be bottom end leaning by the demo here, very impressive for a 1x12 though, I'm not much into the terminology frfr thing off the bat as a rule, I'm more of the thought that regardless of the stage rig being used it's likely heading off to a 3-4 range p.a. for foh as the end decider...any decent p.a. around minimum 15x2way should nail it into perfect phase for stage and p.a. foh....full range is the only lingo required, not full range frequency response...that's an oxymoron in my camp, I run a pair or 15x2's as my stage rig juiced with a 400w Crown power amp and it's frigging delicious, even using one of my 15x2way cabs is no more cumbersome than setting up a 4x12 or two....happy stuff!

Just love that 'BWAAAAAAAA' and the associated harmonics/bloom. They really did a good job. You would be hard pressed to tell the difference between that and an amp.

Well exactly. But if you only have a modeller and want something to power it and not colour your IR’s and overall preset tone. Then FRFR is there for those needs

man, blend that mic position just behind the cab along with the 57 on the driver, work out some minor phase issue and i bet that would sound just incredible. thanks for taking the time for the demo! appreciated!

I'd be curious to hear a direct comparison between an FRFR cab, and some decent sized studio monitors, although I know thats pretty much impossible to capture without being in the room.

FRFR are just powered PA speakers marketed to guitarists. You can save a lot and get great sound from something like an Alto or Yamaha or JBL. The Headrush is a rebranded Alto.

YES Finally, someone moving the mic around on an AVD cab! I don't know why nobody just uses their iPhone and walks around, recording the sound in all the parts of the room. That's the selling point, but nobody ever does it! Nice to see Barefaced making the rounds, these AVD cabs are groundbreaking, and the company needs support right now. Something about fire code or some such, rent debacle, it was on the news and everything.
@BarefacedAudio19 сағат бұрын
@@CraigFlowersMusic no rent issues, just the landlord of our building (that contains almost 100 businesses turning over tens of millions) failing to act on reported fire risks for years. We’re back in the building and the factory is running normally but we’re also making longterm plans to keep the business secure - it’s not like we can just “work from home” on laptops!

1x12 isn't enough. I use the Laney 2x12 FRFR with my Helix, and that sounds mint, big, thick, plenty of low end, and loud as fuck.

This is my whole problem with FRFR cabs. They solve a problem that really doesnt exist. You said it yourself: "A PA-speaker, but for guitarists". So why not get a PA-Speaker then? That just sounds like a lot of marketing bs and I hope someone with way more technical knowledge and more public reach than me will actually adress this.

Micing this cab is bullshit😉 You don’t have the subwoofer on the back…….try an rcf nx 10 sma and the sun come up. This cab here is something similar to the Kemper cab which also lost the 1:1 test with the rcf. 400 watt power…….
@BarefacedAudio19 сағат бұрын
It’s very different to the Kemper cab - that has a single 12” in a closed back cab with no crossover or tweeter so limited treble extension and dispersion; whilst the Reality has a coax 12” (tweeter fires through the middle) with one crossover and then uses an AVD enclosure for extra output and dispersion across the full frequency range and then a second crossover and a rear-firing tweeter which comes in above where the AVD output rolls off. Lots more output and much more consistent tone and feel around the room. Regarding micing a cab that has any kind of port (the AVD works like a conventional port at low frequencies), if you close mic the speaker then the relative distances between port and mic vs speaker and mic skews things - although it doesn’t matter if the port appears to be firing in a different direction because the low frequency output is omnidirectional due to the long wavelengths vs the port size. But as I’ve commented elsewhere, the only reason to mic a Reality is to demo it on KZbin! In the real world you’ll just run a DI to the PA and enjoy how the Reality makes the sound on stage much better (and in smaller rooms it’ll carry the house without a PA!)

Put a tube amp into a Celestion.
@BarefacedAudio19 сағат бұрын
We have so many AVD cabs for people doing that - we even have ones where you can run a tube amp into the Celestion in a Barefaced AVD cab or when you want to travel light you can run a modelling pedal into an Activier built into the same cab. Best of both worlds!
