I think it's nice when a person grows old they can still have students visit them. I worked at a nursing home some years ago and there was a visitor to a resident there. She told me he was one of her students from years ago. Some students also go back and visit teachers are their former schools. Or some teachers helped give someone the education that made them famous. How many passengers will go look for that lady when she grows old or is in a nursing home? What is her major accomplishment in life? I guess she wanted a job with less stress. But some jobs with stress are worth it in the long run. Teaching is grand profesion.

I think the fundamental problem lies in the current system in place which allows every student to work 20hrs a week. Only a reputed university should be allowed to grant work hours subjected to student attendance being sent to the Home office regularly. Why was the visa not cancelled by that apparently "good university" upon realising they cant start the course due to lack of students. ? Why was the student not informed about this before he travelled here to the UK?

You end up giving too much power to universities as they have to make sure all their students aew working 20hrs. Lack of infrastructure, manpower and any legal power to enforce means the universities basically do nothing except suspend or expel students. It's then hard to classify a good uni and a bad uni because of the rise of community colleges and online universities. What is a good university? Attendance should be marked for all international students for every class/subject and any large and continued absences should be reported by the university to the home affairs office.

But far more enrol in a dodgy "colleges" , pay $20k and get a degree in hairdressing or beauty therapy. These vocational courses mean nothing to a prospective employer. The govt also subsidises these colleges heavily. The bast bulk of these students are from China and the subcontinent. On a student visa they are allowed to work up to 20hrs a week which is pretty standard across the world. But the damage is that these students take the low paid jobs that our own young people need to get a start. They also usually work in excess of 20hrs and take cash in hand for the excess. What a majority of them want to do is apply for permanent residency, then bring out the whole family to enjoy a better life. Last year the govt cancelled the licenses of nearly 200 sham colleges, locked a few owners up and de-linked the connection between graduation and pemanent residency. The flow of new students has plummeted. Thats a hit on the education sector but it had to be done.

I would be deported in a second! I attend university part-time and couldn't have answered any of those questions. What courses am I taking right now? Wednesday night, Friday night and weekends when I am not too tired from work. What are the courses called?
