I had originally recorded this about a year and a half ago, but felt that I couldn't do it justice. I just recently made it to 10,000 subscribers, 1,000,000 video views, and 1,200 likes on my facebook page, so I was looking for something to do to celebrate and I came back to this song. This is a monster of a song, extremely difficult, and I knew I had to do it as well as I possibly could or not do it at all. Well I think that it came out pretty well, and I hope you do to. Just so you know, there are a few points in the song where there are more than 4 voices singing, but I didn't feel the need to represent all of the voices with a video.
Please comment, like, and subscribe, but above all, please share!

I'm pretty sure he does not use auto tune. Based on his comments elsewhere, He only adds equalization, compression, and reverb. In case you aren't familiar with the meaning of those terms, it simply means that he adjusts the volume of of certain parts of the sound spectrum that he utilizes, balances the volume of all the parts, and adds a little bit of echo to top things off beautifully. He just sings nearly perfectly in tune, and that coupled with the way his voice naturally sounds produces....

I appreciate the compliment. I just wanted to let you know that I've taken professional lessons since I was 7 years old, and I'm going into my 3rd year of college as a voice major. On top of that I've done 2 broadway national tours. Trust me when I say that even if it may not sound like it, I am certainly singing from my diaphragm. Not everybody sounds operatic when they do. If I didn't know how to use my diaphragm I would've gotten nodes years ago.

Amazing how many clever y/t users discern right away that you're not Freddy and certainly not Queen. Wow, they're sharp. But you ARE fantastic. You make this look simple. That's the problem for the critics whose only response is always a point of criticism. I simply can't imagine pulling this off so well. It is the best study of this remarkable invention of rhythm and harmony I've ever heard. My ears sincerely thank you! You nailed it with that remarkable vocal range and quality of yours.

No one can hit those stratospherically high notes like you, Dan! Great job on a technical nightmare of a song. You make the near-impossible seem easy.

Wow! This is a veritable tour-de-force. Fantastic achievement. After Freddie Mercury died, Queen tried really hard to find a singer who could sing lead on this song all the way through. Most of them did well at one end of the range but not at the other. (This means the singers who could sing the high notes well could not sing the low notes, and vice versa). It was only then that the other band members in Queen began to realise what an impressive singer Freddie Mercury had been, which they had previously not realised but had taken for granted. The amazing thing about this rendition is that Dan not only manages all the lead vocals, which we already know are difficult enough, but he also makes his task even harder by singing all of the the bass range vocals and the tenor range vocals himself as well. And even more amazingly, he successfully pulls it all off. Congratulations Dan, this is a mighty achievement. A little bit on the slow side for my taste, but then I don't know what technical feats you had to overcome in recording this at all. Great job.

blacktigre Settings on what, exactly? These one-word answers may make you feel big and smug, but they are not very helpful, because they just automatically trigger the next question in the chain. Why not just explain it in one go, instead of showing off like this of forcing a series of questions? OK, I get it, there is much less of an ego trip in being actually helpful instead of making someone else look inadequate.
@blacktigre

Blues fan Wow. You try to be helpful to some people and they respond with their life story. Not sure where youre coming from with smugness or feelings of inadequacy. Its pretty obvious that you click the settings on the video. There are only so many symbols to click on a youtube video. Click settings then choose the speed. I hope these were enough words for you to avoid further confusion...

Too many people on here are confusing AutoTune with pitch correction. Did he use AutoTune? Probably not, because I know how that program works. But did he use pitch correction? Definitely. I made something similar to this on my channel for an APUSH project. I am the only one who sang, and I used absolutely no pitch correction or effects.

In all honesty, Autotune is the same thing as pitch correction. it "automatically tunes" your voice to the correct pitch. Autotune is commonly referred to as a way to make you sound like a better singer, although autotuning a voice is essentially changing it in any way, even if that is simply correcting the pitch.

I'm trying to imagine learning and singing this song, and when I do, all I can think is that it is not an easy song to learn or sing. If I didn't see the comments about emotion, I would not have thought about it. The song was so good. Having seen those comments though, being extremely critical I can see where the commenter was coming from. The comment was worth something to you I'm sure, however, I don't care. It was very, very, good.

For everyone hating on Josh here, he is not bashing on Dan but rather giving him constructive input, so I do not get why he is being thrown some curse words. As a learning vocal arranger myself, I felt that this arrangement is too monodynamic as well - it needs to have more dynamic contrasts so that it sounds a lot more interesting.
