I am so glad to hear that. I too often use my decks for deep work, but it's nice to take a moment and just be with them (if that doesn't sound too weird!) 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

At work I had a small card stand on my desk. I'd pull an oracle card in the morning and I would be reminded of the message throughout the day. Now that I've been working from home for a month, I have a couch rather than a desk chair and my laptop is literally in my lap :) Now, instead of pulling a card I do a reading every morning, usually 2 cards. I write my interpretation of the reading in a space at the top of my page-a-day calendar, and *that* reminds me to pay attention to what comes up during the day. The Hanson-Roberts is my comfort deck and the Starchild is my -- I like your term -- heartspace deck. And I just ordered a copy of the reprint of the first edition :) A huge change for me since the pandemic began and I started to feel vulnerable since I'm at risk, is that the deck I use for my spreads lately is the Fairy Tarot by Doreen Virtue & Radleigh Valentine (old copy). The images are very pretty, and there is a message at the bottom of each card -- but a much shorter one than the Guardian Angel. The readings are straightforward because I don't have to think (except to push back against the meaning if it goes too far toward the positive!) and they are soothing because the colors and images are just so....pretty :) Thank you for this series, it's great!

What a wonderful way to adjust your practice and make it work for you in these trying times! I keep looking at that Fairy Tarot (hay house has the Valentine verison on sale) but ended up getting the Angel one first to try it. I was curious to see how I liked the text at the bottom. There are certainly days when that would be helpful! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

Excellent video! You came up with a lot of ways for me to think about adding Tarot throughout my day. Would love to keep a deck in my purse to pull out and shuffle and pull a card at work but my Manager and coworkers would freak. LOL. Thank you again for all your EXCELLENT videos.

This is a beautiful, inspiring video. I LOVE that you show how we can use decks in many other ways than just for spreads. Especially since I used to devalue decks that I didn't find particularly useful for spreads or for deeper psychological exercises (here I mean stuff like what can be found in "The Tarot Activity Book"), even if I would use them for other, important/helpful things. This video cemented for me that it's not all about very deep work. And that a deck that I don't find the best for deep spreads/exercises but do use for inspiration/grounding/self-soothing/etc is still a very important, valuable part of my toolkit. I did understand that before, but actually seeing another person use their decks (or talk about it - for this particular video) in those various other ways was what made me ultimately get that. I really enjoy the concept of using decks as tools for comfort, self-soothing, etc. I used to do more of the deep, psychoanalytical type of spreads and exercises (btw, I have created - well, it's still a WIP - my own set of deep psychoanalytical spreads to make sure I have covered everything that needs to be covered, since other people's spreads are rarely exhaustive enough for my preference, my knowledge), but those past months have added some heavy stuff on my plate, so I really needed to drop those little sorta-psychotherapy-like sessions with decks (at least for the most part) in favour of something that will be more just a generally clarifying, often freeform kind of spreads or exercises to help me process what's going on, but mostly will be focused on helping me calm down and ground myself, find my center, remember my power and motivate myself, and recharge emotionally a bit. My go-to decks for that particular form of cardwork so far have been: - St. Jinx Arcana: The Gay Tarot Divine Masculine. If I were to describe decks as people, I'd say this one is for me like a loving, empathetic, very supportive friend that always gives me good advice and empowering messages. - a tarot deck that I've created for myself that contains imagery similar to Le Tarot des Femmes Érotiques but with males instead so that I can relate to the images more. This deck is a lot of different things for me, and it's incredible for spreads focused on the emotional/psychological stuff, but I also love to use it just to sit casually and shuffle it, pull some cards in a "no rhythm, no rhyme" kind of way, mostly to just look at the photos because they're so beautiful to me - in more ways than just aesthetics - so grounding, so freeing. They really help me reconnect with myself, my body, my emotions, thus they bring me deeply-rooted peace. When you mentioned, with the Llewellyn Tarot, that just shuffling that deck works wonders for you, I immediately thought of this tarot deck of mine, because it has a similar effect on my brain. Working with it, looking through it, and even just shuffling it feels like the very core of who I am is being undressed lovingly, kissed reverently, and made love to. And I'm not exaggerating at all - this deck is truly incredible for me. I've had it for about three months now, and it already opened so many doors for me, transformed me in some significant ways, like no other deck ever did (or ever could, honestly), including helping me tremendously in my work on healing my relationship with my body & my body image issues. If I could ever be actually devastated about losing a deck of damn cards, it would be this one - White Sage Tarot. Which I actually rediscovered thanks to your channel, and it is now one of my favourite decks because of how spacious but still clearly meaningful the imagery is, thus really allowing your brain to create different interpretations, as well as because of the fact that the imagery - particularly Aces to Tens - for whatever reason makes me think of chilling in a cozy kitchen with a cup of tea, on a quiet, early spring morning. I love that effect: every time I look at it or hold it, my brain pulls those images, those feelings to the surface, which means that this deck is very soothing and grounding for me. And the simplistic backings with those rectangular shapes remind me to get back to basics - in various ways - thus they give me this freeing, "untangling the knots", releasing the unnecessary baggage feeling. I rarely find card backs inspiring/useful like that, but White Sage Tarot is one of the exceptions. (Is there a hashtag in the tarot/oracle community focused on our favourite card backs? That would be interesting!). I have some other decks that I love to reach for to calm myself, ground, find comfort, etc, such as: > Whispers of Lord Ganesha Oracle - cause of those lovely, rich colors (they always make my brain happy), the beautiful, kids'-cartoons-like, nostalgic artstyle (really takes me back to my carefree, early childhood days, I can even hear the soundtrack from some of the older cartoons I used to watch), and the airiness in those images which feels to me like taking a deep, refreshing breath > Gaian Tarot - nature! And the fairly good diversity - an element that makes me feel like there's place for everyone in the world, which is a very comforting feeling > Way of the Panda Tarot - sweet, cute, playful, chilled-out pandas - they always calm me down and make me feel optimistic > InstaOracle - that simple, daily life, down-to-earth kind of photos I always loved, always found it soothing and inspiring at the same time > or even Rider-Waite Tarot - "even" because it's not about how the imagery makes me feel but rather about the fact that this deck kind of represents the structure of tarot for me, and I find it really calming, comforting But those three I reach for more often. They fulfil my CURRENT predominant needs - in regards to what comforts me, soothes me, grounds me, etc - the best. Now, the "everything's gonna be ok", fluffy and optimistic kind of decks never worked for me - a nonapologetical realist, haha - so they wouldn't be effective for me as hug decks either, but kind of in their place I really love my self-care deck (another one I made for myself) which contains very practical, self-care-oriented advice as well as short little motivational messages, peppered with swear words because they shake me up and motivate me like nothing else can. As opposed to, I guess, most people in the tarot/oracle/etc community, I don't really have a structure in my cardwork, it's all very organic, spontaneous, situation-based. And this particular deck I don't use daily either; I reach for it when I feel like I might actually benefit from that at the moment, especially when I have a free moment and I don't necessarily feel pulled to any particularly healthy, beneficial way of spending it. This deck is all about taking care of myself, cultivating compassion for myself, etc, and that really works infinitely better for me than pulling a card that would be like, "everything's fine, just smile and trust, and your life will magically cover with glitter overnight" (or even something more proactive and practical but still very optimistic like that). Not to demean those decks; we're all different and so different things work for different people. I can see how those super fluffy decks are a very helpful self-soothing tool for many people; I just don't happen to be one of them (apparently. Maybe that will change? Who knows). That being said, I do enjoy the imagery and the design of the Guardian Angel Tarot (and the way you moded it! I am genuinely in love with that edging), it's very soft, comforting, kind of nostalgic... Very pleasant. Doesn't make me think of grandmas, but reminds me of post cards we would get on Christmas or Easter, so the effect is similar. I have it and I like it, both for the artwork and for the messages because they are pretty useful, after all, although I wish they were a bit more realistic and proactive in tone, less like those typical new-age-y stuff of the "replace your negative thoughts with positive ones and this is all you need to heal every single one of your problems" kind. But if one knows better than that, they might actually benefit from even such psychologically incorrect messages, because they'll be able to correct them themselves. Still: I dislike the fact that people create decks that spread misunderstanding of psychology. It's harmful. Trying to simplify psychology so that it seems so magical and easy to erase all your problems, so that people who are scared of facing their pain won't feel overwhelmed and called out to take their life in their hands like responsible adults that they (for the most part) are. ;P (Not that having a mature brain means one doesn't have the right to be afraid of pain. Hence why I added the ";P" - to signify that it was supposed to be taken with a grain of salt).

In terms of decks that lend themselves the best, for me, for spreads: > Rider-Waite Tarot is my go-to... technically, for anything, but particularly for all sorts of "let's analyze this with cold eye" situations. It has very relatable, simple imagery, which makes it a great, very easy deck in general, but also, for my brain, it's very clear, very objective, since the images don't really have any feel to them that would make them soft or empowering or emotional or dark or humoristic etc. And so I use it for all those kinds of spreads that benefit from or focus on that bland, cold kind of take. Everything external: business, job, relationships, etc. I find it great for stripping stuff off the emotional aspect and looking at the bare bone of things. I am, I'd say, obsessed with this deck on the intellectual level (as in, I want to really explore how many things I can do with it, how far I can stretch the limits of what my brain can do with those images. And one of the things I've done in that process was finding various sexual acts in the images. Which wasn't really pro-self-developmental, but it was still fun: an exercise of my interpreting skills more than anything else). But it also lacks a lot of things - which those gaps are filled by other decks in my possession. So, it is my #1 go-to for practical reasons, but emotionally - and so, depending on my emotional state - I prefer other decks over this one (like St. Jinx Arcana: The Gay Tarot Divine Masculine or that tarot deck of mine that I've mentioned). > For exploring the internal world, Rider-Waite Tarot still works pretty well for me, but it's so purely analytical, intellectual, left-brain-hemisphere kind of take (at least for my brain), so if I want something that will help me dive deep into my psyche, my emotions, I'll use that tarot deck I've mentioned above. It consists of photos of - mostly or completely - casually naked people and is very much about emotions expressed in body language, which makes it, for my brain, a deck that helps peel back the layers like no other, really triggers my emotions, my memories. It feels to me like building a sacred space/safe space to undress mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and take a close, loving, compassionate look at the core wounds, core beliefs, and at the core of who I am as a person, underneath all those adaptive and defence mechanisms. Authenticity is one of the biggest themes in this deck. I also find Ceccoli decks to be phenomenal for deep psychological spreads. Those very metaphorical images penetrate my psyche so well, sometimes to the point where I feel like the spread touches onto something that I'm not yet ready to explore, to process. They're very intense for me. But that also means that they're very transformative - IF I do the work properly (I've learned a lot on therapy and on my own, but you can never have too much knowledge). Soul Cards 1&2 (I use them as one deck) are similar to Ceccoli decks because their imagery is also very metaphorical. This is another incredibly deep deck that makes me take a look at myself like few other decks do. And since we're talking about that deeper kind of work (including shadow work), I have made myself a keywords-only deck specifically focused on different problematic, painful aspects of human psyche and life (I've been making lots of decks lately... It's funny how despite the huge number of decks out there, some of us still struggle to find what they need and have to fill the gaps themselves), and I love to pair it with other decks to make them "dark" through adding those keywords to them like that. There's quite a bunch of decks in my "collection" that lend themselves perfectly for deep work; here I just mentioned the ones I've been reaching for the most lately. > If I want a sobering, tongue-in-cheek message or tint to the spread, I will use Zombie Tarot. The images are so humoristic and down-to-earth, so, they always helps me get out of my bullshit, my drama, and get back down to earth (which is very empowering). And often make me laugh (or at least snicker), which is a lovely bonus. The grotesque really speaks to my realistic self: it reminds me that the world is really just atoms, and that people are actually simply biological machines, bags of meat, scarred by evolution and driven by the need to survive, with war in our nature, etc. I mean, maybe there's something more to the universe, who really knows, but I stick to science, while keeping (is that how you say it in English?) respect for different beliefs, because you never know... Anyway, Zombie Tarot pulls my realistic side to the surface big time, and I love it for that. The interpretations my brain produces from those images can be so brutally honest, but still make me laugh - since the imagery resonates perfectly with my (pretty dark) sense of humor 😛 - and that's just priceless. The three Rebel Decks - which contain short, tongue-in-cheek messages peppered with swear words (again: very much my cup of tea) - are similar: sobering and humoristic. They're good as self-care decks, too. > Sakki-Sakki Tarot is another one of my go-to decks: this one is weird, messy, kind of careless, and so it frees my self-expression - including my artistic expression - like nothing else does. So far I've been using it more for casual sittings where I look through the deck - to switch that crazy, messy, weird, rebellious mode on in my brain - than for actual spreads, but if I want to do a spread that's all about empowerment or creativity, then this deck is one of my go-to's. Especially for creativity: I have yet to find a deck with imagery done in a style that frees my creative expression better than the imagery in Sakki-Sakki Tarot does. And I have seen - and tried out - A LOT of decks. Including different decks you mention on your channel as creatively inspiring for you. I love learning how other people use decks and how their brain responds to the imagery/text in different decks, but I try to keep in mind that we're all different, we all have different brain, and so I shouldn't rely on someone else to point me towards decks that will work for MY brain. Which I don't anymore, indeed, but I used to be less discerning in that regard, haha But I digress. Sakki-Sakki Tarot was also one of the decks that inspired a certain project of mine - another tarot deck - with one of the main goals being to help free my expression through the creative process itself, as well as for the deck itself to be freeing in that way; similarly to Sakki-Sakki Tarot. (I suppose creating decks is another one of my ways of "using" decks 😛 I really learn a lot through that). > St. Jinx Arcana: The Gay Tarot Divine Masculine is another one of my empowering decks, and this one, as it is an epic tribute to extreme physical masculinity, specifically reminds me of my potential, of my strength - not only physical but also mental (which is, after all, necessary to develop such physical strength in the first place) - and of the fact that I can use every challenging experience in my life as a source of strength, as something that can help me grow stronger, that can become my resource rather than my problem. It very much reminds me of the mindset of people who train parkour: how every obstacle can be actually a way to get somewhere faster, and how obstacles are often (not always. Only: often) more in our own head than in the reality itself (so that we end up making a problem bigger and more scary than it actually is, we don't see the full picture but get stuck in our narratives, our defense mechanisms, our fears, our beliefs, our biases, our pride, etc). The imagery in this deck really speaks to my sporty side, and to all the ways that sport can transform you, can be a form of self development - both of the body and of the mind. I sometimes use it like many people use oracle decks: as an advice/inspirational card in a bigger reading. But I also love to use it for spreads where I want/need that very strong slant on self-empowerment, motivation. It has become kind of my go-to replacement for Rider-Waite Tarot lately, since my comfort-craving self was a bit disenchanted by the cold take of the imagery in that deck, and so I organically switched onto the more warm, supportive, empowering St. Jinx Tarot. For self-empowerment, I also really like Royo Dark Tarot. It's dark and all about sexy warriors - a combination that for my brain makes it another great deck for reminding me of my power, and for working with aspects of my life experiences and beliefs that are related to my personal power. However, my go-to self-empowerment & personal power deck remains St. Jinx Arcana: The Gay Tarot Divine Masculine.

> Osho Zen Tarot is my spiritual deck, in the sense that it expands my perception onto the bigger picture, beyond just me and my issues - or, my take on issues - and makes me look from different perspectives, makes me realise how I affect the rest of the world and how the rest of the world affects me. It's a very psychological deck, but also pretty down-to-earth. It's like a good therapist that helps you pinpoint what's behind the scenes of a situation, how it all looks as a whole - and not just from our individual points of view - and how you and the system you're a part of (family, friends, society) affect each other and what that really does to your life. It's very much a "sage" kind of deck, inspires a more mature approach in me: more self-aware, more gentle, more compassionate, but also firm where the need is. A very similar deck - for me - is Gaian Tarot. Though that one is not nearly as psychological. But otherwise it is pretty similar, imo. It has that social aspect to it, and it's focused on the natural environment as well, which strongly highlights the mutual influence of all the parts of the world. > Sasuraibito Tarot also really expands my perception onto others, onto the full picture of things, so it's another strongly spiritual deck for me, however, it's also all about emotions and gentleness, which makes it another great deep-diving deck but one that, on top of that, helps cultivate compassion - for ourselves and for others. It always adds that kind of slant to any spread/exercise I'm doing, because of how my brain perceives the imagery (there's a lot of that gentleness, softness, tenderness in it, both in the color palette as well as in the way the people, animals, objects are depicted, and the very expressive body language is definitely a big thing in this deck, hence why it's so emotional for me). For that reason, it belongs in one category, for me, with my tarot deck mentioned repeatedly here, as well as with Ophidia Rosa Tarot. Those three decks are very much about self-love, self-compassion, mindfulness, tuning in to my emotions and to my body, etc. > Gay Tarot (the LoScarabeo one) is the best deck, that I've managed to find, that depicts different very specific, very daily-life, relatable kind of scenarios, situations. Which makes it brilliant for many different things, really, including typical readings (especially focused on the mundane stuff), self-care work, or all sorts of psychotherapeutic exercises: those images, because they're so situation-heavy, are great conversation starters, and triggers of memories & emotions. The only deck that comes very close to Gay Tarot, that I know of, is Everyday Enchantment Tarot (which I also own, and love to use in similar ways). Zombie Tarot is another deck with imagery focused on specific, daily life stuff, but it has that zombie apocalypse, fantasy slant to it, so I don't really use it like those two other decks. > I also have a deck that so far I've been using mostly to pull one card from - so, not necessarily bigger spreads although it's brilliant for that - and use it as a way to navigate through what's going on in me and in my life at the moment by analyzing the imagery on the card very in-depth (sometimes I also take the keywords into consideration, if they seem/feel appropriate for a given situation) - and it's Cosmos Tarot & Oracle Deck. It's not popular, but I think it's brilliant. It belongs to pretty much the same category as i.e. Ceccoli decks - that is, decks with very metaphorical, surrealistic kind of imagery - which means it's a very deep deck, very penetrating. I have also made myself a color deck (the ones that can be found out there have keywords on the cards and I don't like that in such an intuitive type of deck) and I've been using it in a similar manner like the Cosmos Tarot and Oracle Deck: when I feel like I need more clarity, or when I feel off but can't pinpoint why, I'll draw one or more cards from it. Color is a very rich trigger for my brain, so, very interesting, often surprising stuff comes up when I'm using this deck. Aside from spreads, I often use decks for all sorts of psychological exercises/activities. For instance, I use them with different worksheets from therapy and from psychological books that I own, or in activities from "The Tarot Activity Book" that I mentioned at the beginning (it's great for anyone who likes or would like to use tarot - or any kind of deck, I guess - as a little psychotherapeutic tool. I also have to mention "Tarot at a Crossroads"; it's another book on using tarot/etc in a more psychotherapeutic manner. Both books could perhaps be a tad more expanded when it comes to the explanations of how stuff works from the psychological standpoint, but they're still really good source of inspiration). For that, I tend to reach for Rider-Waite Tarot, because it's the most stripped-to-basics-but-still-emotive-enough tarot deck, which makes it simply the easiest deck to use for that, in my experience. It doesn't add any mood/emotional layer to tarot, imo, but the imagery is still very relatable, down-to-earth. I also use cards from different decks as parts of my sacred space. Often, just like with any other type of images, certain cards in a deck make me think of a motivational quote/phrase, or some other short stuff that I like to incorporate into my sacred space. Then, the image on the card only serves as a visual enhancement of that message for me. I thought that using cards from decks like that would add stiff, restricting associations to those cards for me, but it didn't, thankfully. Artistic expression is a very important thing for me, a significant part of my self-development, and that also reflects in my decks, in the way I use them. Namely, I have, at this moment, 3 decks that are my artistic muses: their imagery evokes emotions and memories in me like no other decks do. And emotions are, after all, our biggest inspiration for and, really, motivation behind creating art. So, whenever I feel like creating art (specifically, I go for poetry, since I find this to be the most helpful form of art to access and express - and then explore - my emotions, my psyche), but I don't quite have any idea ready, I either draw a card/cards from one of those three decks, or look through the deck to find a card/cards that draws/draw my attention, that makes/make a poem form in my mind. Those three decks are: - my tarot deck mentioned above. Again. Like I said, this one I use for a lot of different things. It really inspires authentic expression in me, and when I use it as inspiration for poetry, I often am low-key shocked at (and deeply touched by) the things that come up in my writing - Ophidia Rosa Tarot. I love the flower theme: I associate flowers heavily with sensitivity, vulnerability, emotions, and sensuality, which is why this deck is all about emotions and gentleness for me. And the "snake with flowers" design on the back of the cards & on the box perfectly represents what this deck is about for me: personal transformation/alchemy (snake) through vulnerability (flowers). Btw, thank you so much for that #IsolationStationDecks video: I saw this deck on that video for the first time in a while, and suddenly it made the right hemisphere of my brain respond like crazy! I don't watch a lot of tarot youtubers, so I doubt I would have had that breakthrough with this deck had I not watched your video

So great that you took the time to go through your practice. I tend too tudy much the same as you. Always questioning and analyzing. Each deck adds to my collective knowledge . I do read professionally and am always surprised by people with one deck, I love the nuances!!

Such an intense practice! As someone who only started with tarot in October I'm nowhere near that level of practice, although it would be great to achieve that in the future. It would simply take too much time since I'm still trying to learn the cards and have to look up what a card could potentially mean for me and journal about it. 🌸 I'm still figuring my practice out, but I do like to pull cards every morning to get an idea of the energy of the day and what to be mindful of or a message for the day. I also pull cards for the moon phases, do week ahead-spreads and spreads for guidance. I love your tarotbound journal - I like to use it to get to know decks in depth when I have the time. Thanks for being so inspiring! 🌷

That sounds like a perfect start to your practice! My practice has evolved over many years, it started very small and simple too. I think that's important when you are still learning the cards. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

I have started using one of your spreads in the morning with my Margarete Peterson Tarot and the Divas of Creation as the oracle very powerful. I use the Victorian Romantic Tarot through the day love it I do not see it as a tarot for love readings. I am now trimming my Tarot of the Sidhe I love the look of it trimmed thank you!

Fascinating yet again!! Similar to finding your videos on tarot-oracle pairings really helpful to bring oracle into my practice more, I've found the whole "tarot for just right now" practice (which I learned from Lindsay Mack) to really help me just READ more often. I still only read a few days a week, and can go as long as a week with no cards, but that's nothing like a couple of years ago when I could go MONTHS without touching the cards. I am curious, and no worries if this isn't something you disclose, but is tarot your full-time job? Even this many readings a day feels like a lot, but I'm transitioning from an office job to a spiritual business in less than a month, and I feel like I could envision this more easily in that context 🙂
@DawnMichelleTarot
@DawnMichelleTarot 3 жыл бұрын
Tarot is just my passion, my day job is actually marketing and design. I don't do large readings very often but I do pull calls throughout the week as well as occasionally during the day for a moment of quite and meditation. I hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

Sometimes I do, yes. I generally just put them on my color printer (which has a copy mode) and reduce the size to about 50% and make a color copy. I don't do it as much as I used to though. :)
