❤️@@DawnMichelleTarot Agree, the blue borders were a really unprofessional design choice. The effect was, like the cards corners was inserted into a blue paper frame, hence the weird straight corners, but.. the design WHY, is a big one! (a symbol of heaven)? And with the guilding outside those two borders again? A r.e.a.l.l.y. weird effect, and quite unsettling to look at. After your lovely trimming I actually find the deck intriguing and worthy to get. But.. I’d take the job to re-cut the top!* It would better both the front and back! But, is it doomed to ruin the deck, would such a ‘shaving’ be to narrow to be successful, please? Grateful for your interesting, hands-on videos. I too, cannot stand guilding anymore, unless it’s a really thoughtful part of the design (like The Wandering Star Tarot, Indie edition). *top or bottom shave, considered with each card.

I trimmed the blue borders off I used 10mm corner cutters which cut the blue corners off. I don't riffle shuffle but I guess 10mm corner cut may affect riffle shuffling. I like this size corner because I agree with you, it softens the cards. I don't trim to the high standard that you do, I use scissors and hope for the best. I'm very happy with my trimmed deck attempts, despite the uneven edges. I'm not a fan of borders anyway.

I love a nice rounded edge, really softens the decks up. I've thought about picking up one of the bigger ones to try. I might have to do that! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

Trimming this deck was the first thing I did. I did trim it down as much as I could so the back has no white border. I just finished printing the affirmations from the book onto the white borders. I used a aqua super fine sharpy.

I received the Gaian Tarot just yesterday and I plan to trim it but now after seeing yours and mine I noticed that mine is not even centered. It is more in the right. Gladly it has a lot of borders that once I trim it, hopefully it will come even... I need to do some magic with the left side 😂. Dang, and I thought it would be easy to just trim it in one side and just flip the card and do the same... I need to measure the left side too. I'm gonna cry if I f up because it will be my first trim 😂.

The front trimmed up pretty well for me but the back are a bit of a mess. It doesn't bother me though, I just don't look at that side. :) Good luck with it! Thank you for watching.

The end result is beautiful. I must have an original version of this deck, because my deck is smaller and has no blue border. Also in the version I have, the Empress is named the Gardener, but the Emperor is named "the Emperor". Not sure if that was deliberate or a mistake. You have inspired me to buy another deck (I really really love this deck) and cut it down like you did. Love this video. Thankyou.

The "Emperor" was a mistake. I brought it to the deck creator's attention when the deck first came out. But it was already in print so there wasn't anything they could do to fix it. And yes, that's the original mass market edition, from Llewellyn I think. 😊

Beautiful job! Trimming this deck is on my to do list for this year for sure. I'm lucky enough to have 2 copies of the original mass market edition. But I've got this version too and it's absolutely useless to me being so big with the hideous blue borders. No idea why they put those terrible blue borders on it. This will be super helpful when I go to trim my copy. 😊💖

I trimmed my deck by the backs inside the white line, but luckily as wonky are the card sizes, it still shuffles well

Could you have cut the top first, before the bottom, that you could have measured with the cutting for uniformity? I’m wanting to do this for my new Gaian Deck, too. Thanks so much for always sharing this process!

I just got this deck used, and I am so gonna take off that blue border...I am thinking I might take off the titles as well, because they're ugly. How are you getting along with the deck now?
