I know this is an older video, and I'm not sure if I've commented before, but I absolutely enjoy your videos. Seeing you play around with different things to modify your decks has inspired me. I've edged a few of mine, and although they aren't perfect, it's the intention and energy spent with my deck that makes me feel more bonded with them. Thanks for sharing your deck mods. I used mr sketch scented markers on my plain edged deck to match the color to my deck color. It makes it look a lot better.

Love your Delos modification so much! Looks awesome :-) I edged my Crystal Visions with glitter and used nailpolish on the fronts to add some bling. Still haven’t decided if I will finally trim and back my Tarot of Transformation or not - every time I use it I think about it, but for some reason I never do it. Thank you for sharing your mod decks, Dawn Michelle, I love this kind of videos. Looking forward to your next one. x

I just watched this video again and finally trimmed my first deck😃 It is amazing to see a new deck appear or like looking at the images for the first time🤗 I really enjoy your videos and have watched almost all of them some more than once😉 I watch from my other KZbin account on my roku and I don't think there is a way to comment watching that way? I just finished trimming my Spiral tarot which is now a mini and curious to see if you end up trimming yours. Like most others I sure wish they had created it with a larger image. I haven't trimmed my Spiral Tarot as I am currently doing a study with it. My intention was to trim to afterwards, but the borders are kinda growing on me the more I work with it, so we shall see. 😊

@@DawnMichelleTarot yes it is the one deck I'm not sure if I liked it trimmed and might order another copy someday😉 There really isn't much room for error when trimming that one. I have yet to edge any of my decks yet so maybe that will help😊

I've got a video in the works about how I went about doing that. I had a really hard time with it too until I restructured it in a way that made more sense to me. Maybe going through the same process might help! :)

So nice to know about the Prismacolor markers, I tried to edge a deck with Sharpie recently and had a bit of color bleed around the edges. I love how the Crystal Tarot looks trimmed. And I love how the Cosmic Tarot looks with the different colored edges! They all look great, really :) I would love to see more about how you back your decks - I just backed one of my decks, and it looks pretty good, but I'm wondering if it will last... Such a fun video - thanks for sharing all your modified decks :)

Also try Crayolas (I just uploaded a video on markers that talks about them.) I use them all the time now and I rarely get any bleed with them. I do have a video on rebacking coming up in the next few weeks. That one I am really looking forward to making as well because rebacking does come with its own unique struggles lol. oh yes pease , I would love to know about ur journey with the Ceccoli Tarot as I am thinking the same thing about changing the cards , to different titles , as I too don't think the images go well with the original titles , please do a video soon .

Thank you for sharing your experience with mods. I just did my Schiffer Gaian Tarot and it was a hot mess. In part due to their inconsistency on where they printed the titles (I wanted to keep them), my fancy expensive Genesis paper trimmer apparently needs a new blade but it is no longer being made, and I used sharpie to edge which bled horribly. I wasn’t sure if it was the sharpie or the cut of my trimmer that caused it, but I’ve been scared to edge my Shadowscapes and Tarot Fauna now. The mildliner is probably a great fit for the shadowscapes. I don’t know what color to edge Tarot Fauna in yet. The backs are mostly black, but there isn’t a lot of black on the fronts. I am loving your antique edgings and am looking forward to that video!

Sometimes you gotta watch the actual printing of the cards, the borders and titles and such don't always line up and that can be so frustrating, I feel ya there! I know some people have great experiences with Sharpie, but they always bleed for me. I recommend the prismacolor black or believe it or not, crayola black. They don't bleed near as bad. I just uploaded a video specifically on markers if you want to check that out, that might be helpful. Try the mildliners, I have found that I can almost always wipe away the excess (again I talk about that in my marker video) that might work better for you. Ooh, Anna K in bronze, I bet that is pretty! That is one of my favorite decks. Oh, I'll try not to derail you with my collection videos (should I not mention that I have done 8 videos covering my entire collection that will be coming over the next few weeks? hehe) I am terrible, every time I get a new deck I look for a way to modify it, which is very possibly why I have so many dang decks! :)

Sooooo just sending my decks to you and when you just happen to find the time to do all the work to make the decks perfect...is that a thing...no...ok. Just thought I'd ask :) I've trimmed a few decks and they came out great but my edging...lots of micro boarders... My next deck is the Thoth. I don't know all the names but when I see it freed from the borders, it's just gorgeous :)! Thanks for the videos.

I am a new sub and I am binge-watching your videos in no order whatsoever, so I am sorry if you have addressed this question on any of your other videos, but: when you added the black ink to the Delos, did you do it card by card as the edges are usually done, or did you hold the deck as one single unit? Hi Annie, welcome to my channel and I am so glad you found me. With the Delos, I colored all the cards first, one at a time in their designated colors and then I used my finger to apply black distressed ink to the whole deck at once. I wouldn't recommend this technique with marker or sharpie because it will bleed, but with the ink pads, it works pretty well as long as you use your finger and you don't pretty too hard. I do have a video in my deck mod playlist where I talk about edging with stamps and I show this technique, you might find that video helpful if you want to just it a try. :) Thank you so much for watching! :)

I haven't found any lifting on mine, although I did use some mod podge to glue down the edges on one of my decks because I accidentally bought removable contact paper. That seems to have worked well. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching. ❤️

May I ask what you used to edge your Mary El? I’m starting to mod mine, and I’m having an issue with bleeding. I usually use a sharpie or a copic marker. The only thing I have that doesn’t seem to bleed is a crayola lol Unfortunately the crayola isn’t giving me deepest black.

I believe for the Mary El I used the Magnum black sharpie because I had trouble with my normal art markers adhering to the edges of the contact paper. Generally for black I use a prismacolor chisel tip art marker. It gives me the deepest black with the least amount of bleeding. I hope that helps! 😊

I just wanted to ask what yellow marker did you use on the angels and ancestors deck?

The base yellow on the angels and ancestors is Mildliner brand yellow. It's actually a highlighter, but it works beautifully on card edges and has a fantastic yellow tone. I also used that on my Llewellyn deck as well. With the Angels and Ancestors, I did add a distressed ink over the top to give it that aged look, but the base layer is the same on both of those decks. What gold marker or pen would you recommend to add permanent embellishments to card backs? I'm afraid of it coming off during shuffling so I need to choose wisely! Thank you!

The only pen I've ever used on the front (or backs) of cards had been a gold Sharpie paint pen. It worked well on my Lovers Path Tarot, however I have some issue of it not sticking well to really glossy cardstock. I hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching. ❤️

I'm new to your channel so I apologize if you've answered this before but do you ever find that your decks don't shuffle as well after trimming? My Enchanted Map Oracle deck shuffles awful after I trimmed them. It's such a shame because I love the deck!

Welcome to my channel, I'm so happy you found me! :) Yes, I do find that with certain decks, they really don't shuffle well after you trim them. I think it depends on the card stock. My Llewellyn tarot for example doesn't really riffle shuffle very well since it's been trimmed and I mostly have to overhand shuffle that. But, my Cosmic Tarot still shuffles like a dream with a riffle shuffle. So I think it really comes down to cardstock. I'm not sure there is any real way to tell how it's going to shuffle after a trim, I generally trim anyway and if it doesn't shuffle great afterward, I just switch to overhand shuffling it instead. Someone mentioned trying a flour trick but I've not tried it yet. It seems both methods of shuffling don't work great. But it's such a neat deck. 😊

@@meghannjones7112 Have you seen the multiple pile method of shuffling? I have used that a couple of times for decks I can't riffle or overhand shuffle. Basically you just make 4 or 5 piles and deal the cards out randomly into each pile. Then scoop them all up together. You can do that a few times to get a good mixture. It's kinda fun too. :)

I have rehomed the deck, but best I can remember it was a bit stiff and difficult to shuffle. Although mine was an older edition and I do believe the cardstock is different now.
