I love the juxtaposition of harpsichord and piano. Some feel the harpsichord has a muddy sound. The piano adds shafts of sunlight. Wonderful. And the cycle of fifths in the second movement is pure joy.

Martinu took 18th Century style with 20th Century dissonances a la Stravinsky and Britten and created a charming and invigorating piece of tuneful anachronisms. Wonderfully witty performance!

I doubt they influenced him.

hearing music by Martin is like discovering treasures. just when you thought you heard all you could hear from classical music, things like this happens.

The aliance of the harpsichord and the small orchestra is well written. The orchestra never occults the hapsichord.

It is such a divine music that I only regret that I will probably never hear something else comparable to it. Maybe in the afterlife. ;)

What is it with female harpsichordists and the big hair?

What is it with fucking idiots who trivialise a great musician and Auschwitz survivor, "the Jew who brought Bach back to Germany" as her husband described her?
