Easy hard boiled eggs that shell perfectly and easy every time.... in a STAND ALONE AIR FRYER...I used the Instant Pot Vortex 6 but ANY AND I MEAN ANY Air Fryer will work!! Set timer and walk away... come back in 15 to 20 minutes later to soft or hard boiled eggs. Deviled eggs or any hard boiled egg recipe has never been easier!!!

@@JohnSanders John the reason they have the dark spots might be because you did not turn the eggs over half way through the 20 minutes. I think that is what you have to do with about everything that you cook in the Air fryer,

I finally got it perfected this morning John. 300 degrees 20 mins in my paula deen air fryer. Did not crack before placing in ice bath. Left the egg in ice for about 3 minutes and it shelled perfectly and beautiful center yolks. Makes me happy. Now wish me luck tomorrow when I do a bunch of them for deviled eggs for easter dinner. My steak was not MR but well done. 😂 Tip for the peeling even quicker, roll them where they crack on the counter. Then add to ice. I’ll bet they peel even easier.

The trick to peeling hard boiled eggs is to crack the shell then place the egg down on a flat surface and roll them with your palm exerting a little downward force back and forth a few times. The original crack you made spiders out weakening the structure of the shell, peeling is easy after that.

The darker spot is from the heating element, that's all it is, won't hurt anything. I have a NuWave oven, hard boiled eggs at 11min are the best, and the easiest, most consistent no matter how many eggs cooked at a time. Nothing wrong with this though, use what works for you. About the browning on the shells and the eggs - I have a little Copper Chef egg maker that suspends the eggs over a plate with water. The plate heats up and basically steams the eggs until they're cooked (steamed boiled eggs... and now fried boiled eggs... haha). Those get the browned areas also, just like the air fried eggs, where it's closest to the heating element. While it is technically slightly overcooking the shell (from what it appears to look like - at least in my egg contraption...), and sometimes the whites, it never effected the taste, peelability or texture/feel of the hard boiled egg, just as you showed. :) It may not appear completely perfect/all white for even the little egg maker, but just like the air fryer, it's still a perfectly good egg. The brown spotting on the egg shells may be basically the same concept, but in a random pattern due to the air fryer's airflow around the shell. I'm really hoping I can try this in an air fryer soon!

As a total air fryer newbie, but long time scratch cook, I followed your method, but left the default wattage on at 1800 in the NuWave. Yolks perfectly cooked, but whites were a bit tough, had gold/orange spots on some, some peeling difficulties on some sides. Texture of whites was a bit tougher on some sides. Conclusion: I think the air fryer was just too hot. Considering, in cooking in boiling water (212 degrees/sea level) cooking for similar length of time, bring to high simmer/low boil, cover, turn off heat, let set 17-20 minutes. A much gentler heat is being used. Lower watts? Lower temp at longer time? Some list cooking at 240 degrees in their air fryer even. Experimentation is needed to more closely mimic heat/time as would be done cooking in water. You started the quest for your perfect hard cooked egg and now I am on my quest! How can the most perfectly cooked, hard cooked egg be such a challenge to so many!?

I have a ninja foodie grill. I tried the "bake" setting at 350° F, thinking that might eliminate the burn spots, but it didn't. I do however think a lower temp setting (less than the 350°F that I used, would probably be better). At 350° it took 12 minutes to get softboiled and 16 for hardboiled. However the white had a leathery texture on the burned side of the egg. If anyone has a "ninja foodie grill and perfects this, please tag me and let me know. Thanks

I agree with tapping them right after cooking. I don't set them in ice water, just tap water. After they have cooled a few minutes, when you fish them out, just roll them around in your hands and loosen the shell all over. Then dunk it back in and slide the shell off under the water. Voila' ! Also, to slice them, dip the knife in water and the egg will not stick to it so much :)

I got the Ninja Foodi dual zone air fryer, and then I found out you can’t fit any pans or accessories in the half sized compartments. Well, no problem! I just bought a few silicon muffin pans and small cake cups and cut the muffin pans in thirds. So I can fit only one third (two cups) in my air fryer with an egg in it, but I can place 4 more on the side in each compartment, allowing me to cook an entire dozen eggs at once, 6 in each side! I love having an air fryer, and am coming up with ways to adjust to the fact that I have two smaller compartments to work with, rather than one bigger one.

Part of the spot might be where the yolk settles so close to the bottom that the white is thin enough you can see the yolk. I've noticed this in my old no name brand electric pressure cooker. The actual brown looking spots might be some left over oil/grease residue on the air fryer heating element that gets disbursed by the hot air onto the egg. Just a guess on that though. I will try air frying some eggs in my new Duo Crisp.

John Sanders We just have us two in my little family, so keeping it small was necessary. But I found, as always, my Foodi excels at making good things better. In this case the limited size guaranteed that I stayed within a quantity that we can consume between the two of us. But I don’t think that held me back from doing a good job. My mom didn’t leave a scrap on her dish, and that meant more to me than an expensive Christmas gift.

@@7heRedBaron that is awesome...when mom cleans her plate you know you did good and another reason I say...like I did in one of my videos...that these devices will change the way kitchens are designed before long...they are that much better than the big ovens of the soon to be past...I know that sounds extreme and it will take awhile but it's coming...thanks for watching!

I just bought an airfryer and I'm dying to start playing with it. So nice to see l can do eggs in it. But l do wish food demonstrators would give temperatures in F And C ..... l have no idea what 270°F would be equal to on my new toy. But thanks for the video.

The spots on the egg is the Maillard Reaction of organic material contamination. Usually harmless - since we don't eat the shell - and doesn't show up when boiled. Too be 100% on the safe side i would not let peeled eggs sit in the same water with shelled eggs, especially uncooked shelled eggs. ie., treated it the same way you treat cooked and uncooked chicken.

@@JohnSanders yw, and keep up the good work, love your vids and I learn a lot. Right now I am trying to figure out 'steamy in the middle while crispy on the outside hash browns'. I suspect the thicker (and maybe wetter) the pile of potatoes is in the fryer is the key.
