As always this is a guide for gas safe people only! I may not cover everything in every video as it will get repetetive and too lengthy- Do your visuals, clean the condense trap, check the vessel, check/ clean injectors, electrodes, flame picture, check/replace all seals, clean. Always refer to Manufacturers Instructions please.

Is this what should happen at every service - ie annually? My last service seemed to go very fast and I don't recall the blower or burner coming out! TIA

Only if the readings from the negative fan test point or analyser readings bad.. Or every 3-5 years. Can't comment on individual boilers without being there. Buuut as a general rule for myself if its the first time I personally am servicing it and there's no service history I'll give it a full strip down

Brilliant video. Why do these manufactors create so awkward positioned parts. Such a ballache. Surely no matter how experienced you are. You have a chance to damage parts on removal and assembly.

I've got a Worcester bosch junior 28i if I drain down the central heating system and refill it, do you tend to get air locks at the top of the heat cell? As I believe they have bleed flexible pipe at the top near were the flow pipe exits? Do you think draining and refilling should be without any issues? Thanks.

I would always bleed it mate. But if you're draining to do rads or something, u could always isolate the boiler, depends where the filling loop is. Then open the valves up and fill it quick, run the boiler without firing up to get the pump going, open all /any aavs. If you're not bleeding the heat cell

They are a pants design mate, they rib up so easy. So any thing you can do to avoid this is great

@@goldgas1216 Is there a automatic air vent inside the boiler? How would you run the pump without firing up the burner? I want to fit a omega filter on the return pipe thanks

Just read you got a junior. There is an aav above the pump, but that doesn't mean its open. I think you should get someone gas safe to open the case and vent it and open the aav if it's not. Maybe combine it with a service if your trying to save dollar. Fit the filter yourself if you feel competent and maybe organise the engineers visit that day/next day

How long do you think this would take roughly?

Allow 2 hours- comfortable, no rushing, baffles can get stuck, allows time if you more seals etc. And sometimes adjusting the gas valve can take up alot of time.

Thanks for taking the time to make this Video. I recently paid for an annual service on my greenstar 24i and thought the engineer i hired had done it very quickly and did not do anything other than give it a visual inspection and take readings. Should the part where you took out the baffles of the heat exchanger and clean with brush be done every time a service is performed? Thanks

Cheers bud, thanks for taking the time to watch. If you go to 2min 36 seconds, the negative reading will tell you if the heat exchanger needs cleaning/ baffles removed. It's good practice to do it anyway and change the seal every 3-5 years regardless if the reading is good, thats why it is good get the engineer to fill out the service sheet at the back of manual. Refer to your manual for individual readings and info.

@@goldgas1216 Thanks for the reply, the boiler is 10 Years old and i can't see any history that it has ever been serviced (i moved in last year). The Reading measured are as followed. O2 (%) 4.3 CO (ppm) 13 CO2 (%) 9.5 Ratio 0.0001 Temp net (c) 35 Temp Flue (c) 52 Eff Net (%) 98.6 XS Air (%) 25.5 Does this look alright? Cheers

@@mav1937No problem, was that from the commissioning page from the manual or from a slip from the recent service? Doesnt say anything about the fan pressure. But unless there is anything wrong with the boiler (noise or lack of heat etc) i wouldn't worry and assume the engineer done a good job, then perhaps next year ask for a full strip down service this may cost you more (labour and seals etc)

worcester are not the best boiler contrary to what a lot of people think.front enty like the baxi's is much easier and the new compact worcester, ive never had so much trouble with servicing.why is it that worcester have to over engineer all of their boilers.right down to removing the cover.why not a couple of normal screws like most other manufacturers. great vid btw . cheers

Absolutely agree, Worcester have the public who know the name. But design on their condensing boilers is questionable, no input from engineers. Baxi have good ones, I personally like all Vaillant and condensing Alphas too. Thanks mate! Very kind 🙌

I would rather have a ravenheat than a modern Worcester lol. Serviced hundreds of these and always wince when switching the power back on as the greenstar juniors are common for popping fans like smarties. Shocking pieces of plastic crap

Personally its good what you do but unfortunately its all down to prise if your doing all that your looking at a bit of time its qwicker to change the whole heat cell can do it in 30 mins i do what i can in 30 mins important thing is to make sure the burner gasket is replaced which i do every 4 years

Looks easy but it wasn't that easy. I took off the electrodes first which was a struggle before removing the fan etc.

Haha, yeah you definitely can't do as good a clean. If you can remove the flue if it's not sealed then happy days.
