great video! I was wondering if Kf and Kb are dependent on pressure, since most of the diagrams I’ve seen only show how to use them to find (delta)Tf and (delta)Tb at 1 atm.

Great question! Absolutely, those values will change at different pressures. The ones that you find on almost all of the tables (in textbooks etc) are based on 1 atm pressure. So if you get into situations where it’s different than that, you’d have to find the Kf or Kb value in a specialized table.

How does altitude affect the boiling point?

High altitude results in less gas molecules “pushing down” - thus, lower atmospheric pressure. So if you look at the line between liquid & gas phases on the phase diagram, you can see that the boiling point is lower. Which is why it tends to take longer to cook things in boiling water at high altitude… they are cooking at a lower temperature.
