Impressive muscle memory to be able to consistently draw similarily size hexagons. I teach geometry and my students just accept that any polygon beyond a quadrilateral will at best be wonky. Love the videos as always.

Ohhh, thank you so much. That means a lot to hear that. Maybe because I have been listening to ASMR myself for so many years (it helps me, too). I have a question for you… I got feedback from someone that they prefer me whispering to talking softly. What do you think? I’m wondering if I should do a mix of both. I usually do soft-spoken, I think. Maybe I should create a poll.

Crazy Nerd Inventor & Ben Lloyd: Absolutely yes, correct, that is the most used name! This video I'm not talking at all about nomenclature - just structures, including isomers in general. For example if you look here: www.cdc.gov/niosh/npg/npgd0323.html it lists all of the isomers of hexane, and that list includes this one here that you both named correctly as 2,2-dimethylbutane. But that does give me an idea to make another video that covers nomenclature! Thank you!

Love it! I like the subtle white noise; there is a tendency for some artists to cancel this out, which is a mistake in my opinion. Have you thought about using a woodwick candle in the background?
@ASMRChemistry3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I'm an audiophile but I'm also old school, so I'm choosing to keep the ambient hum. Love your idea of a woodwick candle. I had a candle in one video but it didn't make a difference audibly - but woodwick is brilliant. Thanks so much :)

Isn't an alkane named after the longest carbon chain? So the isomer to the hexane would be 2,2-dimethyl butane no? (Great video btw, ty for letting us study abd relax)
@ASMRChemistry9 ай бұрын
Hello! Thank you for bringing this up. In terms of nomenclature, the name would be 2,2,4-trimethylpentane (assuming we are talking about the same molecule)! In this video I was only pointing out that octane has different isomers. This is a good reminder that I should include nomenclature, too! Thanks for being here and commenting - and your kind words!
