"Those attacks to degrade Russia are constant throughout the winter, so logistics hubs, ammunition dumps, defensive equipment, even trench digging equipment will probably start to be struck."
Putin's long term plan could lose him Crimea as Ukraine begins a winter campaign of long range missile strikes on Russian logistics, Ed Arnold Research Fellow for European Security at RUSI tells Frontline on #timesradio

EU is top donor to Ukraine. EU countries spend over €230 billion on defense, and all Ukrainian citizens now have freedom to live and work in the EU for up to 3 years. Millions have taken up the offer. EU is speeding up the process to help Ukraine to become a full member.

Swiss manufacturers of ammunition won’t sell the stuff directly. They however are probably ramping up production. Germany is dragging its feet. France constantly wants to negotiate with Putin. That leaves UK. We should be ramping up but also we should be encouraging British manufacturers to build even more capacity. We need the machines that build the machines.

You need to learn more about Geopolitics... *MORE DISINFORMATION, DELUSION & DECEIT..DISSEMINATED* *FROM TIMES RADIO! There are too many government & military* *Shills,* who incessantly push this absurd narrative! Arnold is speaking on behalf of Western governments spreading more lies! ⚠ Since February 2022, the American public has been subjected to a ceaseless barrage of *"propaganda"* surrounding the Ukraine war, which has been aimed at drumming up support for U.S. involvement in a brutal, fratricidal military conflict on the other side of the globe. The print and broadcast media have told the public that the conflict is an “unprovoked war” by the Imperialist, Russian aggressor and that “NATO is not involved.” Ukraine’s goals are “defensive”.. There are no “American troops” in Ukraine... The next victory is just around the corner, if only the United States will send more money and advanced weapons..etc..🐂💩 💸 All of these lies have been exposed by the reality of the war! More recently, they've been upended by the release of a trove of leaked information. *"The Pentagon Documents,"* describe the degree of direct NATO involvement in the war & the DISASTROUS military situation facing the Ukrainian government! Despite Biden’s declaration that “I will not send American servicemen to fight in Ukraine,” the documents show that more than 150 US and NATO troops are, in fact, deployed in the country and despite endless declarations that the war was “unprovoked” and that “NATO is not involved,” the documents show that US war planners see the efforts by NATO to "encircle" Russia and the operations of Ukrainian troops as a "single campaign!" Among the most pernicious lying has been the effort to distort the military situation in Ukraine, aimed at presenting the Ukrainian military as on the verge of a major strategic breakthrough. This campaign has sought to minimize Ukrainian losses while inflating those of the Russian side, in an effort to justify using more Ukrainian youth as "cannon fodder." *America's Proxy war* *has decimated the land and turned Ukraine into a graveyard* *that has burned through a generation of men!* After 18 months of this confict, it is no longer a question of IF the Western alliance will falter.. but WHEN! Russia now controls 87,000 sq. Kilometers of Ukrainian:territory, including: Crimea, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donbas & Lugansk, which are all part of the RUSSIAN State.. forever! Currently, much of the richest areas and the industrial base of Ukraine, containing key natural resources, gas & oil..etc. are under the occupational control of the Russians! *The U.S./NATO are desperate to reverse Ukraine's losses & are* *using UKRAINIAN'S like "MEAT," for the meat-grinder..* and in the words of Sen. Lindsey Graham, they will: "fight to the last Ukrainian!" The logistical reality is that America, is in NO position to fight anyone who can fight back.. and a hot war with Russia, is not akin to fighting Arabs in sandals in the deserts of Syria, Iraq or Afghanistan! *The U.S. has already proven it's INEPTITUDE,* *failing miserably in those military campaigns! (Afghanistan.. the* *latest, tragic debacle)* In fact, what many do not realize, is that since 1991, the U.S. has been involved in 215, "unilateral" military interventions overseas...but during that same period of time, Russia was involved in only 5! The U.S. hypocrisy is staggering and yet the irony is that America has the audacity to label Russia as: "The Imperialist aggressors??" *The U.S. yet again, has foolishly miscalculated..* but add in the Nuclear dimension & the danger increases exponentially and the sobering truth is that today’s nuclear weapons are much far more powerful & accurate than the Nagasaki & Hiroshima bombs. The largest nuclear weapon in the world is the Russian “Tsar Bomba,” which has a yield of 50 megatons and that produces a sound wave that can travel faster than the speed of sound or "Mach 5!" *That is over 2,000 times more powerful than the Nagasaki bomb...its INSANITY! Russia's, "SARMAT ll Hypersonic Missiles," are more advanced and dangerous than most people realize! The U.S. simply does not possess a defense systen capable of preventing those missiles from reaching their targets in Europe, much less within the continental U.S.! Western leader's are Rattling a Sabre they cannot back up.. while their own countries are on the brink of economic & financial DISASTER! This is "American Exceptionalism".. at it's WORST! This war has become a *"SUICIDE MISSION"..* inching humanity closer to Global Thermouclear War! ☢🙏

Otherwise we can tell that Great Britain and Norway cooperate on training and have a joint economic funding together where the equipment deliveries to Ukraine goes via the Britains. If the deliveries from this smaller countries always are forgotten it's a risk that the population that has agreed with their politicans that their national investments instead should go to Ukraine, will think that their help after all is not that important, and may get fed up.

Sadly, ramping up production of weapons in Europe doesn’t appear to be on any priority list. Most EU countries are well below the NATO recommend spending level. Every EU country should be implementing a military training program to train Ukrainian and volunteers up to a much higher skill level. Even people who are not going to the front line to fight could be training as medics, mechanics, drivers, fire fighters etc. Our politicians are fiddling while Ukraine burns.

Great interview - thanks, Times Radio! Just one thing, from what I know Ukraine did NOT "let" Russia build up defence last winter! The brave West waited and waited, for fear of being nuked by Russia - a clearly brazen non threat by Russia. The dribble, dribble, bit here, bit there, was the reason why Russia was able to build the Surovikin line of defence. If we had given Ukraine what they needed, what they asked for, when they needed it, when they asked for it, they could well have taken back the land bridge before the defence was built. The only country with any guts has been Ukraine. Especially given the moral responsibility of US and UK for the guarantee of Ukraine's security for giving up their nukes - shown now to be totally let down by all guarantors. Shame on us.

No, that's not how the Russian mentality works. If they cared a lot about money, their country would have been a lot more prosperous economically. @@Horologiist I think you are correct but it is unforgivable. Think how many real or imagined problems the politicians and wider state present to us which they claim they can and will resolve. They usually fail to do properly even those policies they volunteer to do but defending us is not a choice, it is fundamental. No one should expect the state or the military advisers and planners to get everything right but to run down defence capability to the degree they did is a disgrace.

However, I have to give him credit for having confronted our NATO allies about five or six years ago over their failure to devote the required 2% of GDP to defense spending.

The problem that the West have in general, is that ultimately politicians are in charge of making military decisions, often against the advice of their Military advisors. Such was the case in 2014, the politicians chose to appease Putin. They, falsely, believed that Putin would be content with Crimea, so they ignored the military advisors, who knew that Putin wanted more than just Crimea.
