"If you start even a small war in Europe while you're going to Taiwan, you're going to significantly overstretch the United States."
NATO's greatest challenge could be deterring China if they see war in Europe as cover to seize Taiwan, Author and Journalist Peter Apps tells Frontline on Times Radio.

:3 the sub text of "would China Push Putin to fight" is already an understatement when Xi kind of enabled Putin to strike at Ukraine as a distraction and pressure against USA. Ukraine ironically was one of the nation that was very supportive of Beijing and even their general public view China favorably by over 60-77% in 2021~ during the pandemics and also provided Beijing with its submarine tech that the soviet won't sell to China. Guess Israel isn't the only one that got hit from behind despite how supportive they have been towards China in recent years/decade but than again; they should have see what happened to Ukraine and not learn anything from it. (partly because it was dealing with internal p politics)

Unfortunately, and this is the problem with dictatorships, it’s not China that decides, it’s Xi Jinping. The same reason why the US needs to hold its nose and ensure Donald Trump doesn’t return to the White House, as the craven kowtowing to Donald Trump by elected Republicans who certainly know better indicates that Trump would rule as a de facto dictator himself, regardless of any supposed constitutional constraints.

Given that Carlson has long said he’s “rooting for Russia,” and his own former employer has stated in court that he is an entertainer and not a journalist, you know exactly what kind of bias you’ll get. He’ll always do what’s good for his personal bottom line, and that means giving the MAGA rubes what they want, regardless of the truth. Don’t forget: this is the man who raged at his bosses in internal e-mails after the 2020 election because, by correctly stating that Biden had legitimately won election, Fox’s stock price, and thus Carlson’s net worth, had dropped.

You are fighting predators, yet you keep the aliens' weapons... ... and you expect to win? Hahahahahaha... .. Anyway... ... this is the real factor be it however you want to laugh, mock or whatever. Once the god is not the PM of Singapore, the future will be any meetings, any policies, any world affairs or visits by leaders to Singapore will not be related to a god, and... ... means no god is in the leadership or influence of the world, and logically speaking, not hard to understand by now what will happen. Hahahahahahahahahahaha... ... You are all so fun. Mortal stupidity cannot be cured. Hard truth. You will either bow, or... ... you can handle yourselves. But can you? So, you are on the side of the people who invaded Vietnam, killed more than 2 million people and destroyed your country? Are you aware that some Vietnamese kids today are born deformed because of the chemicals the US sprayed on Vietnamese people? So, you're against Russia who actually helped vietnam? Let me guess, you hate China too? 300.000 Chinese helped Vietnam against the US invaders, many Chinese died for Vietnam.. You don't understand this war in Ukraine. That's because you listen too much to Western propaganda, they are lying!! During the Vietnam War, they did the same, they pretend to be good guys and say Vietnam is the evil guys. Do you also agree Vietnam was evil during the war? Because that's what the West said back then. NATO created this war, they want to put missiles in Ukraine on the border of Russia, of course Russia will never accept this. Remember Cuba crisis? The US wanted to use nuclear bomb, because Russia wanted to put missiles in Cuba.. This is the same.. Also Ukraine have been killing ethnic Russians in the Donbass since 2014, these people are civilians. Do you think that's OK? Also Vietnam does not support Ukraine, they provided no help, that's good. Vietnam is loyal to Russia, a friend who helped Vietnam, when they were invaded by the US terrorists..

I think that China is backing Russia in this conflict with Ukraine and NATO and is helping it, but it may be a condition that Russia helps China regarding Taiwan.

0:57 by Peter Apps "Deterring Armageddon: A Biography of NATO: the astonishingly fine history of the world's most successful military alliance" The history of the world's most successful military alliance, from the wrecked Europe of 1945 to Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine. NATO alliance is in many ways a parallel global history of the last 75 years. As well as all the outbreaks of seething tension between the US and its European allies - and the counter-moves of rival powers - this is also an account of just how often in those postwar years that we all stood on the edge of the most terrible abyss. Apps follows the criss-crossing threads of the Cold War and beyond. Those threads converge in our shadowed present, and the conflict in Ukraine. In order to fathom today's dark world, Apps has explored a labyrinth of once-classified history, and he brings dazzling clarity.'

China is actually pretty happy with Taiwan about now. The last election resulted in a divided Taiwan with a slight pro-China tilt in it's parliament and and a pro-independence President. A war in Europe also harms China's tottering economy.

After the threats before the last election if the current president was elected, they're not, but they can't really do anything that doesn't have too high a cost. Look up "China's final warning".

I think he is spot on with this, the threat is a global one, not just Russia. It is an all or nothing scenario and the chances of it happening demand increased defence preparedness in Europe, Canada, Australia etc. Some are already on this, ie Poland and Japan. More need to follow.

Russia is suffering from the loss of turbines in planes, oil refineries, trains and heating systems. They are running out of seeds and people to repair machines and infrastructure. Not long and Russia is finished then NATO can concentrate on Taiwan
