I too am so glad this was preserve. I have been looking for films that my Lola, Nati Rubi acted in to show her great grandchildren as wheel as the rest of the families. If any one has any other films that she acted in, I would be interested to view. thank u. Unfortunately, there is no information on her. She is not even included in the list of classic actresses, although I am told she was a well known contra-bid a actress. She won an award for best overall actress.

This is very iconic. My grandmother who was born in 1917 used to describe me when I was young the kind of clothing they were wearing in the old days. Now i am seeing it on youtube through old films. Thanks for sharing it.

One of a handful of films from the country to survive the war. Truly priceless. A fine film and a moving glimpse into another time. One wonders how many of the actors survived the war. Rosario Moreno didn't and it's truly sad and haunting that an attractive and interesting young woman passed away tragically at such a young age. Fortunately with this film her legacy survives.

What puzzles me about this movie is the attitude of the husband towards the wife after learning about her past. Nagulat siya dahil may anak out of wedlock yung babae pero di siya nagulat na di na virgin yung pinakasalan niya. Remember, this was 1939. Big deal ang virginity ng mga babae noon unless siya rin ang nakauna dun sa babae. Btw, si Tita Duran ay may hawig pala sa apo niyang si Maxene Magalona. My late mother, God bless her soul, used to tell me that her elder brother they fondly called "Baby," the eldest in the family, perished in a battle in defense of his nativeland during those final most miserable days just before the War ended. My mother Beatriz General Umali saw Rudy Concepción and Rosario Moreno when the movie stars visited Naga City . Rosario's father was a soldier of the Spanish Army during the revolution. Ventaja was his surname. Moreno was a beauty according to my mother. Rudy's brother wzs the guitarist Pedro Concepción. The plot of the film reflects the influence of the zarzuela. The indoor furniture, the door of a house,the metal chair in the garden, the wooden bed and Moreno's dresses are all in Art Deco style.

AN ICONIC PILIPINO MUSICAL DRAMA and the child actress then, TITA DURAN made me cry when she was begging for money and then started to sing in front of a house asking and begging. That got into me and I cried. Sorry, about that, guys. Sad to learn that both RUDY CONCEPCION and ROSARIO MORENO died so young! Although, I understand they both made 5 movies together, by the year 1945, when the Japanese started bombing Manila, ROSARIO died from this bombing in her house. WAR IS PURE EVIL!
