shimmer isnt really hard to find, you just need to know how to look for it. just to let you know, you find shimmer on the jungle side of the world, just before the beach biome. in a medium world, its around 500 to i think 600 blocks down. with shimmer you can get many permanent upgrades to your character, uncraft items, and swap items like a magma stone for lava charm, or upgrade items like rod of discord to rod of harmony, which doesn't apply the chaos debuff. :D

Yeah the regular game isn't hard, but the other difficulties can make it a nightmare, especially the 'For the Worthy' and 'getfixedboi' secret seeds

The shimmer is the most important biome in terraria being able to create the rod of harmony, which is a better version of the rod of discord and you don’t get the chaos affect from the right of harmony making it so you can teleport infinitely. There’s also the enchanted moon dial and a ton of permanent buffs.

For those who don’t know the shimmer biome is found near the edge of the jungle and it can be used to turn items into what they used to turn things into what was used to craft them and special things like turning the pharaohs robe into the magic carpet and the sundial to the moondial which instead of turning time to the next day it turns it to the next night there is many more things these were just examples I hope this helped for further information❤have a good day
