The Boker Applegate-Fairbairn Fighting Knife 5.5, model 120545, features a Green Micarta CNC machined handle which is perfectly rounded for a comfortable grip. This new model, designed by Boker in collaboration with William H. "Bill" Harsey, features expanded width and improved geometry of the double edge, bead blast 440C blade. The extended tang works as a glass breaker and the Micarta handles provide a secure grip even in wet conditions.

I am a lover of this pattern , ever since I first learned about it in the 80's , through the pages of " Soldier of Fortune Magazine " I could never afford the early handmade models , produced in limited quantities , but when the Boker fixed blade models & the Gerber folding models hit the retail market in the 90's , I was early in line to acquire everything that got released !!! My favorites are the " BLACK KNIVES " , both handle & blade , fixed & folding !!! The full sized fix was offered with a 6 inch blade , either dull silver finish or black & a black synthetic handle on either , & eventually a desert model !!! there were more compact fixed blades that came along later , in a boot version & MINI SMACHET model , as well as the one being shown here !!! The full sized is a real " KILL KNIFE " & will compete with a Randall of the fighting knife category !!! Nuf said !!!

Kind Sir , a kydex sheath was offered at one time , for the 6 inch blade version as well as the 4 3/4" boot knife version !!! these knives could be carried upside down , without the knife falling out of the sheath !!! You may have found out about this by now ???

You might bea a Navy Seal, but so what. Your a man like me and that does not mean I do not have a voice. I've collected and used knives for 50 years. Placing your thumb over the back of the pommel is extremely dangerous in a contact situation; and I longed for larger handles for years. WWI and WWI and fairbairn taught us you need a 5" - 7" blade to be serious. Lyn Thompson taught us a minium of 6". Most serious combat knives are 6.5" - 6.7", they use ot be 7" in WWII.

Most of the "targets" in the body are less than an inch from the surface. . . And you do not know better than people that have been in knife fights. Most daggers in history, unless they were designed for reverse grip like the rondel, were meant to fit into the palm like this Boker dagger. A good example is Cossack Kindjal's which were designed to fit their owners hand as to fit into their palm.

If you had the experience you claimed, you wouldn't be on here grifting for scraps, you'd be a private contractor overseas or guarding celebrities.Now a question for you, are you on medication or did you stop taking it?

Congratulations on a 50-year career of collecting knives. In your 50-years of collecting, have you ever been in combat and had to resort to using a knife to create space in a close-quarters tie-up? The face, eye, throat, neck, and ribs of a threat isn’t going to care about the length of a double-edged dagger. Sharp and pointy into such areas will always produce a plenty serious and painful reaction to create space. And in some applications, carrying and concealing a 7-inch fixed blade IWB just isn’t an option. Your comment is much like saying that a sub-compact 9mm isn’t as “serious” as lugging around a full-sized service pistol. Believe me, any threat taking three rounds in vital areas from either isn’t going to stand there and argue that the sub-compact hurt less than a full-sized service pistol.
