Boker Automatic; Disassembly and Reassembly

After figuring out if the springs I ordered were correct, lets see what is on the inside of the knife and how the spring works. The wood on the knife is very nice. Interesting to experience an automatic knife and really don't know why these are illegal and other assisted knives are not. The wonders of legal definitions and some misunderstanding. Parts purchased through knifekits.com funny that they provide a band aide.

lol Love the Band aid. I should consider adding one when I return the knives I have sharpened. Yes, that smack when opened is fun. The spring under the release button was rusted in the one I had, but that one was really cheap. Still, some oil on it (or a drop in the spring well) may be a good idea.

I was glad I didn't send mine in for service as their guidelines say they will dispose of any automatic knife that comes in for service.

Well done taking it apart,I'm glad I don't have a automatic knife I would not have the patience .I agree that a small magnetic bowl would make life easier

Agree, I had seen a rubber mat with little cups around the edge that might be nice to keep thing in the order they were removed.

Looks like a very good serviceable knife. If you find that you love having an auto in your pocket look into the Kershaw launch series I really like them for daily carry utility knife.

We use to make this model automatic when they came in they weren't milled out or have a spring I worked at a knife retail store the springs we made from piano wire

@@BladeBanter no you did good . It was weird sometimes the frame would come milled out but we had to drill the holes in all the blades for the springs

Do you remember what size spring you installed? I have this exact knife but not the old spring. I lost it. I went to knife kits.com and saw they have many different sizes. Thanks for your help.

I have the same knife. There is a metal ring missing in yours. That is why the spring is deformed.

Ahh I had picked it up with all the guts missing. Will need to track down the part. As I can't send it in as they will just destroy it.

Yeah it's a lock to lock button lock if the auto spring is removed.

It will not have a closed detent as you will need to depress the button to open and depress to close.

It depends on preference for the spring tension. The one installed is still working, although I don't use it much.

See the spring on ur one was a lot more then required over tentioned I came searching how to fix one from oxidation or corossion without issues xd

Yeah it had a good amount of tension and hadn't installed a spring prior. With an aluminum handle you could polish it as well.

@@BladeBanter yea I like that force actually most Chinese knifes or usual other auto u have only pin cause u pull it out and u put the blade on the spring and u turn around put the pin and done it's good as new xd
