Holy shit, I remember hearing about this so long ago and always looking to see if this (and that review) ever came out, I honestly forgot about it until today! Needless to say I'm super stoked to find out that at least the program is out, I'm still looking forward to the proper Boktai review though!

Very cool! An emulator plugin would be a really cool next step, but for now it's a great feature

I have zero plans to implement this. It is beyond my skill level and the main programmer isn't interested in doing it, but it is open source for those who would like to do so!

THE SUN IS IN YOUR HAND! Man I adored this games and they where my first Kojima games. I got this one winter, and well if you know anything about winters in Newfoundland I spent weeks with my face smooshed against the living room picture window to get a single square of power. But it was also the first game to ever have Newfoundland's timezone listed so it was super cool. Very nice to see it still getting love. Okay not a great work around but hey a work around for the vast number of us that don't live in mercia.

This is a fantastic solution but I wish there was a mode to have the program simulate a day-night cycle outside of real time; like 5 minutes = 1 hour.
@StilesReviews Жыл бұрын
Interesting idea, but the game itself isnt designed to accomodste that.

Hello, I have questions about this program. 1 is compatible with European roms 2 can the brightness of the moon be simulated as if it were the sun? Why do I try to play now at night and I see that it does not work 3 My antivirus detected it as a virus and I have to deactivate it to be able to play, be careful, I haven't been able to make it functional yet
@StilesReviews Жыл бұрын
1) it doesnt interact with the rom in any way, so that won't matter. Zip codes only work for the U.S. however, you will have to use latitude and longitude. 2) No, the program is meant to help you play the game as intended, not to bypass the day/night cycle gimmick entirely. If you want to simulate sunlight when it isn't sunny outside, change your lat/long value to one in a location that replicates the time zone you are after. 3) From the mouth of the programmer, "After running the .exe file through VirusTotal, it looks like there are 5 AV vendors flagging it as malicious, likely because it is a python library compiled into a Windows executable using py2exe. These are false-positives, I'll be doing what I can to try and get rid of them in the next release. All of the source code is available for review in the bitbucket repository linked, and you can even compile the .exe yourself if you're savvy with the command line with py2exe. medium.com/@markhank/how-to-stop-your-python-programs-being-seen-as-malware-bfd7eb407a7 "

RA have solar sensor option in core options 😐
@StilesReviews8 ай бұрын
Yeah it does, but what device are you playing on? On phones you can use your camera as a 'light sensor' on PC you can set the level of solar but nothing tells you what an 'accurate' light level would be, thats what this program is for, to tell you WHAT level to use based on your location.

man this looks like an amazing project and a very creative solution. but i'd really love it if you could explain how to actually implement it on the game. i may be stupid but im reading the readme and i don't get anything from it lol
@StilesReviews5 ай бұрын
It doesn't interact directly with the game, I said as much in the video. You need to use a program like retroarch and manually press the buttons to adjust the sun levels yourself. Maybe you could explain where you are confused, I genuinely don't know how I can explain it any more clearly than I do in the video.

WHICH EMULATORS DOES IT WORK WITH?
@StilesReviews8 ай бұрын
It doesnt interact with any emulator, it is a stand alone program. I think the video pretty clearly explains how it works.
