Dwight got Stan Van Gundy fired in Orlando and Otis Smith ended up leaving as well, if I remember correctly it had to do with Dwight wanting more help surrounding him. He did go to Hakeem to work on his game but it didn't do shit, he spent a lot of time practicing his free throw shooting and was still bad at it, he was just a little better foul shooter than Shaq. Ticket was right all Dwight had was a hook shot and nothing else. Shaq on television once said that Dwight was a power player and should've developed power moves. I watched old games of Alonzo and he had a better offensive game than Dwight and a more ferocious defender.

Embiid gives u very good offense wit good defense. Anthony davis being the best defender in the league and better then Dwight if u value versatility more then anything else on defense. But Anthony davis is a better offensive player. Especially in pick and rolls and pick n pops. Ik he hasn’t been the same offense player but he’s still better then Dwight. Dwight would’ve been the 3rd best big today behind Jokic and AD. People forget that he played with Jameer Nelson as his pg. A player that probably wouldn’t start today. Pair Dwight with a modern pg and it’s lights out. Also the reason why Dwight was primarily in drop was for 1.) his teammates weren’t athletic enough or good enough defensively to help in secondary rotations and 2.) Dwight played in one of the weakest point guard eras during his prime. PGs weren’t just pulling up off the screen night in and night out.

Depends, did any of us expect D-12 to become Shaq, Hakeem, Duncan, or Kareem? I think he lived up to his athletic prowess, he was a physical freak, he just had no offensive skills and never showed the ability to harness them. He was a top 5 player in the NBA for like a 3-4 year stretch and he had a HOF career. He should have been on the top 75 all-time list.

@CJ_hondo21 Жыл бұрын
Regarding Dwight, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a big having most of his offensive impact come from lobs, cuts, putbacks, or tough finishes at the rim. Especially when you’re arguably the best defender in the world at that time. But that’s just my thinking🤷🏽♂️ I do agree that he had more potential that he didn’t tap into tho Edited: and Dwight would definitely be effective in today’s NBA, outside of anomalies like 2023 Denver, rim protection and vertical spacing have always been important to championship teams regardless of era, y’all tweaking. Dwight would be a top big today💯

Dwight didn’t underachieve. The problem was that people unfairly expected him to be the next Shaq. Shaq like 7’2 325. Dwight only like 6’10 260. Stan should’ve been let go. STAN was overrated. AD is absolutely demolishing AG. Dwight is guarding Jokic with AD roaming. This is probably the last prime year of LeBron so he's cooking mpj and AG, don't matter who you put on him. Bron shot 66% when guarded by AG just this past season. You got prime 2013-14 Danny Green sniping, KCP sniping, and Heat Bron was shooting nearly 40% from 3 at like 39%. AD was shooting like 38% in the postseason. Lakers cooking. Green and KCP taking turns guarding Murray with Bron helping as well.

Also Dwight had a lot more defensive versatility than y’all give him credit for. No he’s not Bam but he’s better on a switch than Embiid is, he has better hands AND moves his feet better. And offensively, he’s still a perennial lob threat, despite complaining about the amount of PnR touches he still was dominant in the PNR, he’s going to abuse a switch, and he had a jump hook.
