Bola Sete was treated better outside of Brazil than he was in his own country because of racism. He came to America during the Civil Rights Movement and found his greatest success. I wish there were more videos of Bola Sete on solo guitar. Great player.

I had the good fortune to see him with Vince Guaraldi at El Camino College in Torrance, California, during the lunch hour. It was a free concert paid for out of student activity fees, and the other 30 or so people in the audience enjoyed it as much as I. 1964 was a good year.

Pretty amazing guitar playing. I’m bowled over. His name suddenly popped into my head, so I typed it into KZbin and got this. 👍 Saw him back in 1968/69 when I was a young teenager. There used to be these all day concerts with a wide variety of bands, mostly rock, but obviously also jazz. Sadly, I don’t remember what he was like from that concert. Wish I could’ve seen him as an adult, when I knew more about jazz. What a wonderful musician. Thanks for posting.

fine underrated guitarist . Sete played with pianist Vince Guaraldi : he was the one who , among other things , wrote the music for animated Peanuts Cartoons and Caste you Fate to the Wind .

I'm so glad this still exists. I remember seeing it a few years ago, and there's a recording of it on Grooveshark, but it's not quite the same as seeing him actually playing. Definitely my favorite version of Tour de Force.
