I think it helps keep it snug to the beads keeping the hook pointing outward better. The swivel alone would not keep a good steady contact. What was the plastic thing? Plastic qtip? Pretty ingenious. Also too much work for me lol

Death trap rig. Many people have been banned from UK fishing clubs for using appallingly bad and unsafe rigs like this. If a fish breaks you off above that final swivel tied, it is impossible for it to shed the weight and main line, this leaves the fish in a position to get snagged by the rig and DIE! To improve your rigs look at the UK carp fishing rigs and associated setups, they are 100% dedicated to fish safety. Even if the intended catch is scheduled for the dinner plate (sea / game) it is still best practice to ensure a safe rig is presented should the fish get lucky and break you up. This post is not a moan or dig, it's about educating for a more responsible sport.

Three points. 1. Never tie direct knots in line (you loose 50% of strength). 2. add a link so you can change weights. 3. Moisten all knots ( if you don't your line generates heat and you loose up to 75% of original line strength) Your rigs are good but your techniques are awful !!
