I get what you're saying, but now I think they've gone too far the other way and make him blind to their faults. I guess it's supposed to come across as him overcompensating for his past failures as a father, but it really just makes him look stupid. I recently started watching episodes from 2019 (when Hope and Liam are told Beth is dead) and am working my way up to the present. For that whole storyline, Ridge looked like an idiot. I mean, at one point he finds out that his son was responsible for someone accidently driving their car over a cliff and that he leaves the person their to die rather than calling for an ambulance. In addition to that, he keeps secret a horrible crime that could have spared a lot of people a lot of pain. Yet for these "mistakes," all Thomas needs is the love and support of his family to get him through? Oh please! At that point his son is an accessory after the fact for the baby-stealing secret and responsible for recklessly endangering someone's life in addition to manipulating and threatening people if they don't do what he wants. That character deserves at least a 9 year jail sentence. But to Ridge, nope, his boy doesn't deserve jail time or even a long stay in a mental facility. Why? "Because he's a Forrester." RIDICULOUSNESS! If it were up to me, Thomas would be under the jail.

This is when the show started tanking because it became all about princess Hope. I never understood why Hope had such a big presence at Forrester Creations, she's not a Forrester by any means. Eew, no. There's enough bordering on incest as it is with dynamic of Brooke and Eric and Brooke and Ridge. And yes I know that Ridge is actually a Maroni but the relationship between then has firmly been established as father and son for decades. Not to mention that Ridge and Thorne actually do share blood, if only through their mother. Finally, Thorne has already had Ridge's sloppy seconds with Brooke. He doesn't need to do that again. It just starts to look weird, like he can't go after any women that his brother hasn't already run through.

Ridge always says he will be there for his kids, but clearly he is side swiped both Steffy and Thomas in favor of Hope. It's always Brooke's children that take precedence over his other children. If anyone is to blame for all his children's issues that he had with Taylor, it is him. Now it's no secret Thorne had some interests in Taylor at the time, he was right to stand up to Ridge in this case. Why put all your resources in one line when you can maximize all the other successful lines with a balance approach. Hope barely out of high school got way too much limelight for someone who never worked her way in the company. It makes me sick when Ronn Moss was playing Ridge that he was clearly only looking out for Brooke's children more than his other children he had with Taylor. At least now with Thorsten Kaye as Ridge he puts his own kids first over Hope.

The writing is better than it is now, but by this point it was already declining. Ridge became a Logan prop and Brooke was constantly winning when she didn’t deserve it. Plus, Taylor almost always got the short end of the stick around this time. Plus, this was the season where LOPE v STEAM took over the show. Regardless, I still respect your opinion.
