She has been supportive of Caroline coming between two brothers As she is strongly opposed of Brooke living at her house, she should have been the same with Caroline living there, given her history with Ridge. She is pretty disgusting in that aspect, especially after the prank, she should have insisted that Caroline and Thorne move out or Ridge move out.

It was a true partnership in every sense of the word between herself and Eric. Eric built a business while Stephanie created a family - best of all the worlds. She defended them all fiercely and never backed down from administering a dose of tough love now and then. There was ONE person who she embraced as a daughter - Caroline - who never brought any ill-will or threat into the household. Brooke just sauntered in without a kind spirit and blatant attempts to control as if she was THE Mrs Forrester of the house.

After the "prank" Stephanie definitely should have gotten one brother to move out. Why would a mother keep such a toxic situation, when one son already had stated he would kill his brother for crossing the line - and the mother then "knows" that the older son and the wife really have crossed the line? When Clark wanted to move in after Clark and Kristen had eloped, Stephanie made it clear that she didn't like that and stalled (I have to think about it) instead of allowing it. Why not be as upfront with the toxic triangle situation with her sons and Caroline, when Stephanie herself even talked about how Ridge still has feelings for his ex and isn't over Caroline, Stephanie questioned Caroline about her feelings for her brother-in-law?

Thorne has not made it a secret how he feels about it (Stephanie just flashbacks back to one of their talks). How is having them daily interacting and having issues not Stephanie's responsibility, if she allows that toxic living situation at her own home?

She was a nice character up until she took Ridge’s letter, became seriously obsessed with him, and dumped Dave. After that it went straight downhill.
