It's a threat though, she threatened him - in a man's mind it could pop the thought of what he stands to lose by not saying those words, as in, the free intercourse, the fun moments, for Ridge being with Brooke is like relax time. So this are the kind of moments when some guys might lie and say I love you when they don't mean it. It would be different if she was looking for commitment or compromises, but her bar was very low, words without actions mean nothing.

He never loved Caroline at first, he just wanted to stick it to ole man Bill. His, I love you, were fake to get C into bed. But of course he deeply cared for her.. He never really loved her until after C and Thorne divorced, Ridge marries C. He finds out she is dying that when he really did. He always loved Brooke, just was different love. Even with Taylor it was never a full filling, strong love, like he had with Brooke. Otherwise R wouldn't keep going back to Brooke.

It was powerful, mind you, Ridge was engaged to Caroline, if my memory serves me right, he never said I love you to her until Caroline was marrying Thorne. I love that Brooke is not like Caroline, letting Ridge play her. Whatever she needs and wants in this relationship to be happy, she demands it.She is quite a revolutionary character for women in relationships, play by your rules, demand what you are worth and go get what you know deserve. Except being a virgin, Caroline had no power in her relationship with Ridge.She was cheated on regularly, who agrees to marry someone who has never told them, they love them and is cheating on them. You see that's where self-respect comes in as a person and woman, you don't just get into relationships and marriages without love and respect. Caroline loves loveless relationships and marriages.She loves having male attention and the marriage status.
