*RIDGE:* "Mother what were you thinking?" *BROOKE:* "She was thinking of _you,_ Ridge. She sacrificed her pride for your future." I love this character moment because it shows that even in her gleeful moment of revenge and triumph, Brooke is still able to admire and respect Stephanie. It's not enough to dissuade her from pursuing full control of the company, but it's a reminder that the heart of this show really is the feud between these two women. In that moment, Brooke drops her malice and actually defends Stephanie to Ridge! And the way KKL delivers the line conveys two things: 1) a mother recognizing the self-sacrificing instincts of another mother and 2) Brooke's annoyance with Ridge, still stinging from his rejection of her but also probably from years of having to deal with his selfishness and self-centeredness.

*BROOKE'S REVENGE* Even though I'm not a Brooke fan, I appreciate how well-written this scene is with Brooke maximizing her revenge. She fully intends to take control but by pretending to consider Stephanie's offer, she toys with the Forresters into letting them think they might be able to salvage control after all. It just gives them false hope before she lowers the ax: it's deliciously cruel and she likely views it as payback for (in her mind) Ridge making her think she still had a chance with him just in time to get her to sign the contract. Also by putting Stephanie's offer on the table, she gets to see how the men in the family would react and when Ridge and Eric (and even Elliot!) predictably jump at the chance, Brooke rubs it in Stephanie's face: "Eric! You're going to throw Stephanie to the wolves? It looks like your troops are abandoning you Stephanie." This is Brooke's payback for when Stephanie came over after Ridge chose Taylor and berated Brooke and made her feel like Ridge had deceived her and was more loyal to the family -- she's showing Stephanie here that the two most important men in her life (Eric & Ridge) are now willing to toss Stephanie overboard to save themselves. And then of course that final touch of naming _Sheila_ as her liaison.

It was either 51% of Forrester or 75% of the profits and if the Forresters had given Brooke the profits instead of the 51% Forrester Creations may not have survived because Brooke would have the patent to BeLief and the money and she could have sold BeLief to another fashion company and gotten even more money.

Why does Brooke say that if she controls Stephanie's stock she controls Stephanie? And why does Ridge agree? "Mother, what were you thinking"? (Loved that, it made no sense) I mean, it wouldn't be Stephanie's anymore, it's not like Brooke would control them FOR Stephanie. Stephanie would lose her income or some of it etc. but she'd be "free".

But that shows how greedy is Brooke. She can have equal importance in FC and get rid of Stephanie and make peace with the two troglodyts but she refused the offer.

@@babs4848 Brooke is not greedy, that is a sure thing the show established, since she rejected Belief multiple times, actually sat down to sign it over and only asked for stupid, meaningless things and not even a cent or one stock. If she accepted Stephanie's offer, she doesn't necessarily get rid of Stephanie. Her family wouldn't let her leave the company if Stephanie did not want to. They might as well let Stephanie in charge of the remaining 2/3 and she could actually forbid Brooke from ever coming to FC and fire her and everything a majority allows you. Brooke of course would have a great income, however since money is not Brooke's motive, but revenge on Stephanie, she doesn't want to "lose contact" with her. So Brooke taking half, leaving Stephanie with around 15-16% she keeps the contact she wants with Stephanie within the company.
