So the first one who went against Caroline's dying wish was Brooke herself. Even if Ridge wanted he could not go for Brooke formally, since she was already married. Taylor was in an affair with Storm Logan, told Ridge that he needed to search his feelings for Brooke and was not even eager to start a relationship with Ridge. He really went after her. What Caroline told was when she was still living, she could not have foreseen the probability with Ridge loving other women he was yet to meet. Taylor certainly did not conspire with anyone to keep peope apart. That is what Brooke and Thorne do.
