*Sheila Finishes the Story* As ludicrous as the setup is, Sheila's Goodbye Party shows her yet again to be a Storyteller. Regulars here will know I've been writing about Sheila being a major plot-driver since she first appeared on this show. And here we have her literally arranging and corralling everyone for this final act. Sheila can even narrate scenes that she’s not in (calling out Lauren and Stephanie when Eric puts her on speaker at 12:02) and she makes her intention to “finish the story” explicit (10:44). And fittingly Sheila’s arch enemies - the women she battled for control of the plot - both accurately “read” her story: Stephanie predicts that Sheila’s planning a massacre (1:40) and Lauren begins the final line that Sheila’s completes at the top of the stairs (18:00). Finally this episode references _All About Eve,_ a movie that's all about storytelling and upstaging and women vying for control of the plot. Sheila uses the "fasten your seatbelts" line that Bette Davis made famous in that film (13:09) and her appearance at the top of the stairs at a party full of enemies and frenemies is what Margo Channing does in that movie's iconic centerpiece scene. The message is clear: this is All About Sheila.

There were lots of other ways she could have informed them, including what she finally did, which was to tell James the entire story. She could have even sent an anonymous letter with a pic of Sheila's face in the GC newspaper next to the article that she's supposed to be dead. I'm sure Steph would have taken it from there. It is also baffling that sheila almost drowns Lauren and then Lauren leaves town and for a WHOLE MONTH does not even call Eric in all that time. For all she knew Sheila could have unalived that whole family in that time. And by then, she wasn't under threat by Sheila about anything. Some friend she is... Lauren Fenmore is a complete idiot. I mean really?? She could have exposed Sheila to Eric the moment she KNEW Sheila was alive in LA and married to Eric. She could have stopped this entire thing WAAAAAY before it even started. Nanny Judy’s accident, the doctor she was seeing that she tossed out his office window, James’ kidnapping, and this upcoming ‘party’ that isn’t going to go too well. All of that could have been avoided completely if Lauren spilled the beans instead of dragging her heals forever. Honestly, the writers had to do that because then there would have not been 2 years of storyline. Lol. If I was writing B&B at that time, I would have NEVER involved Lauren Fenmore in any of this storyline. She would have never known Sheila was alive in LA with Eric. Brooke may not have gone out of her way to help her, but she didn't really cause her any problems, or attacked her (excluding when they first met) gave her a job closer to what she wanted (she wanted to be more than a secretary I assume but at least it's closer to business than working at the infirmary) and just the fact you mention the common enemy, must have been a very powerful identifying element for Sheila. Plus she listened to Sheila's problems from time to time. She still separates Brooke from "all the rest"
