The swimming seed “scheme” came about after Stephanie heard Brooke argue that Taylor was irrelevant in her children’s lives. Brooke discounted James’ suggestion of Taylor being a 3rd parent. Stephanie set out to prove Brooke wrong. She knew Taylor would not be given a chance to develop a relationship with Eric Jr and Bridget if left up to Brooke. So like a wonderful fairy godmother, she gave Taylor and the kids some time together. And it went swimmingly! Taylor glowing and happy concludes that the kids will be just fine. Stephanie, who loves the children, as well, now knows the same. Brooke’s leverage and excuses are sinking. Yes, it was a bit underhanded but I don’t really see it as using the children in the way Brooke does. Mission accomplished today. Queen Stephanie at her best.

That is a good take on it. I love Steph, but I still didn't like it at all that she chose to do this without Brooke's knowledge. Just was uncomfortable to me. Don't get me wrong.. Mission accomplished, but I can't agree with Steph on the way this was done. That said, Brooke will be mad about this, but not so mad as to never have herself or the kids over at Steph's pool again lol. She wants Steph's acceptance so bad that she is going to be back at Casa Forrester like she lives there lol.

*Taylor's Archetype vs Taylor's Role* The swimming lesson scheme is an example of the show trying to revert to the old Stephanie/Taylor dynamic. It was Stephanie's idea and execution but Taylor is initially reluctant to participate and takes no pleasure in deceiving Brooke ("I'd feel better about it if Brooke knew they were here.") This "division of labor" in their relationship always allowed Taylor to remain the Good Girl while Stephanie made the moves on her behalf that would otherwise taint her archetype. *(See episode 1360)* It's similar to how Sheila was often the dark plot-driver for Brooke -- doing the things that Brooke needed done but would never do (like tampering with Bridget's paternity). And yet, it doesn't quite work the way it used to. When Stephanie tried to put Brooke on a plane to Paris for example, she was doing it to defend Ridge and Taylor's marriage. The dignity of Taylor's position as "the wife" justified Stephanie's actions and made the cause righteous. But this time Taylor is "the other woman", a much less dignified position and the act ends up feeling wrong and sketchy (deceiving a mother about who her children are with). It shows how difficult it is to maintain Taylor's archetype when her role is misaligned.

True - we're back to the dynamic of the Good Girl having a proxy who does the questionable things on her behalf. There are some subtle variations to this dynamic depending on whether the Good Girl actually _knows_ about these manipulations, and if she knows, if she wants to _stop_ them, or _allows_ them (albeit reluctantly). In this case, Taylor knows about Stephanie's scheme and is uncomfortable with it but still "plays along", leaving her archetype largely intact but not entirely "untainted". And yes, in reply to your edit that I just saw, this plan does feel less justified than the ones that had Stephanie defending Ridge's marriage from an "outside thr eat" - especially, like you said, the aspect of Brooke being kept in the dark about her own children's whereabouts. (And since Taylor actually _isn't_ a swimming instructor, there's also the safety aspect.)

I see your point, but it CAN be seen as a manipulation on Stephanie's part for Ridge to choose Taylor. Ridge may not be there at the pool, but it is still a bonding experience for Taylor and the children. So potentially next time they meet, the children will get even more familiar and loving towards Taylor and Ridge will see that. Either way I see nothing wrong with Taylor spending time with the children, but they should have asked Brooke. She is still the mother. Taylor wanted to in her defense.

Bobbie Eakes was *masterful* as Macy today. The way she manipulates Anthony was amazing. She took a crazy idea- that she’d be approving, and even turned on, by the murder of Ivana - and made it seem believable. Kudos to the actress. I love that the older women (Stephanie and Sally) are in charge today. Queen Stephanie moving everyone else around on the chess board like the pawns they are, and Sally realizing something is going on and being determined to figure it out. They enliven the show so much. Props to Hunter Tylo, who has such nice, natural chemistry with the kids. Michael is apparently the original cool girl, and I cannot emphasize enough how much I do not care about her.

This date with Macy and Anthony is actually a "mirror scene" of their first date at the Café Russe in episode 1718, with a lot of elements being very similar in both episodes - they have dinner, Macy talks about Thorne, and Anthony doesn't want to talk about him so instead he suggests that they dance, and during the dance Macy's mind is still on Thorne and she is trying to slow down Anthony's advances, but still showing some interest and asking him about his true nature, while Anthony replies by telling her about the reactions he will evoke in her in the future. During that first date, Anthony hinted at having a "dark side" that he would reveal to Macy when she got to know him better, to which she replied "no thanks". However, when Anthony asks her in today's episode if she'd like to know how far he'd go to prove his devotion, Macy does the _opposite_ and nods "yes", raising the stakes compared to the first version of the scene more than a year earlier.

@@NewYorkNick0607 I checked, and it wasn't on the "palindrome" list because it doesn't fit neatly into the "reverse order" sequence. In the original sequence, this scene occurred between points 7 and 8, but in the "backwards sequence", we are now approximately between points 4 and 3. So I'd place it in that other category of "mirror scenes in no particular order" which also happen a _lot_ in this storyline (sometimes it's individual scenes like Thorne spying on Macy and Jake, sometimes it's entire plot points like the Cyrano letters and the Deveney Dixon scheme).

Probabaly. I might don't agree with Stephanie's tactic here. On the other hand Brooke has had no problems getting involved with a couple of men and have them around her kids. These children have gotten used to and disused to two/three daddys already. Eric is basically out as a daddy since years. Connor and James were temporary daddies. Sheila and karen were qiute a bit around them temporarly. So, Taylor of all these people is not more a stranger than all were and are. Brooke had and has no problems with strangers around her children.

I especially enjoyed Stephanie's active plotting and role-playing in this episode. Delightful and humourous. Taylor: Who's teaching them to swim? Steph: Guess!!! Taylor: Did you tell her who the instructor would be? Steph: I think that slipped my mind. Steph: The children have to learn how to swim, don't they? _You're_ a great swimmer. You _are_ a great swimmer, aren't you?? Steph: So, I thought "why not just drown two swimmers with one lesson?" I understand why most people see Brooke as the bad girl and Taylor as the good girl but there are other factors to this story such as it was Ridge decision who he wants to have a life with not Stephanie’s if it wasn’t for her interfering all the time maybe Brooke wouldn’t have been so desperate to do whatever she had to to keep Ridge also at the time Brooke didn’t know that Bridget was Eric’s child instead of Ridge’s child so of course she wanted to fight to keep her family together. Taylor was not perfect either she cheated on Ridge with James and married Omar I know she was held against her will but she didn’t have to marry him and last Ridge should not have played Taylor against Brooke all those years leading them on and using them for his purposes.

I can't fault the little boy (or girl). It is hard to act so comfortable with strangers - so much hugging and kissing here - (even if the scripts tries to make it seem as if they quickly bond) and thanks to the writing for the last year, there haven't really been much scenes for the boy and HT to interact (the volunteer scenes also focused more on Ridge-volunteer than interactions between the kids and the woman with the wig). Maybe that is the reason why they will soon recast little Eric?

Taylor treats Rick and Bridget in the exact same way as she treated the children in Morocco. She plays with them for two minutes and then gets praised for her apparently stellar mothering skills. Thomas, Steffy and Phoebe seem to have mostly got the same kind of "parenting". It was, of course, made worse by the fact that she was presumed dead for most of their childhood.

It's not an exklusiv trades to only Stephanie. Eric and Rigde done the same. Manipulate things is Brooke's prefered way as well. Brooke should have, at the point she learns of this secret meeting with her kids, have put a restraining order against Stephanie and Taylor from seeing her children, and then filed a complaint against Taylor with the medical board. The psychological damage that might be done to little Eric, if he had picked up on that Taylor was supposed to be dead, could be traumatic. Taylor had a hostory of sneaking little visits with Bridget because she wanted to be the mother of Ridge's children. Taylor had never truly had to pay for her manipulations, nor the way Brooke always got blamed for them. Even in the years they weren't both vying for Ridge, Taylor went after any man with whom Brooke was involved. As far as the shows today are concerned, I hope Taylor's story truly is done.
