I love how Susan Flannery portrays Stephanie's reaction as confusion rather than anger. It’s partly to remind us that the character is still physically weak and recovering, but it’s also because Stephanie can’t understand how she was so wrong about Amber. Stephanie takes pride in her perceptiveness, her ability to read people, and finding out that she misread Amber (and worse, that Brooke was right about her all along) makes her question and doubt her own instincts. Recall that she reacted with the same confusion when she found out Taylor had married Prince Omar. In both cases she couldn’t believe that her pure of heart “daughters” were not so pure. And the coldness she’s showing Amber is just like the way she rejected Taylor that time.

However she technically wasn't wrong about Amber. She was absolutely correct that Amber came from a bad home environment and could become someone better. And, as you commented b4 Amber actually is someone better bc she wasn't enjoying any of her year fooling Rick or Steph, as she knew she was doing something wrong (unlike her amoral mother who didn't see anything wrong with the situation). That alone shows there is a spark of goodness in her. Plus as you pointed out yesterday, Amber deciding to come clean and take responsibility, when she could easily blame Tawny or just run away and not face anyone, gives her a bit more respectability and, dare I say, even a little goodness, which is what Steph saw in her in the first place. Amber is genuinely sorry for what she has done, and doesn't expect forgiveness and welcome back... (unlike another person wearing red in the room, who we shall not name lol).

@@TriniT21 Yes I agree. But in this moment Stephanie feels that she was wrong about Amber hence her confusion. Stephanie prides herself on being a good judge of character and what Amber did _really is_ very bad.

Yes! I love how instead of making a big gesture and getting loud like the others, Stephanie keeps it low key and intimate, so that she can deliver the message in a way that is much closer and really gets to Amber (and us).

Brooke's so mad that Amber got the welcome into Steph's home that she never received.. Not even marrying into the family, getting pregnant, taking over the company, could get her that welcome after all these years 😂. Steph even called Amber a daughter to her... I know that's what is really grinding Brooke 😂😂😂 I love how Steph just ignored all Brooke's ranting and raving.❤

@@aph1976 I would def drag Eric for being a terrible, absent father to Rick for most of his existence. However, his primary caregiver was his mom and his primary home was his mother's house. And Rick himself said a few epis ago to Amber (in Venice) that he wanted to give his son the stable home he didn't have. Rick loves his mother, but even he recognises his home was not stable.

Still amazed that they filmed and continued using footage over the years that clearly shows the real location used for the Forrester mansion (i.e. Bill Bell’s place) totally mismatches the interior set - see the very first shot. Steph is currently in a weakened state health wise (physically and emotionally). As she's said several times, it has not been easy for her having to be in this weakened state. Having dealt irl with someone who was health compromised, I know it isn't as simple as saying "get a grip" to them when they get emotional over bad news, bc being in weakened health contributes to that emotional state.

*Welcome Morgan, the Itsy Bitsy Spider* The first half of the years 2000 has some very well-constructed story arcs, and with Morgan's introduction today we are watching the beginning of one of them. Morgan's storyline has similarities to a spider slowly spinning its web, in that her end game is not immediately known to us (possibly it isn't known to Morgan herself), but we watch her gradually move closer to it as the plot unfolds. What is interesting about Morgan is that we are initially expecting her to be the usual "other woman" in a triangle, someone from Ridge's past who will try to rekindle an old romance (and it's possible that even Brooke will be expecting that and hoping that Morgan will cause trouble for Ridge and Taylor), but we later discover she is after much more than that. We can also draw obvious parallels between Morgan and Sheila. It would probably not be too much of a stretch to assume that Morgan's storyline is based on Sheila's initial Y&R storyline (from what I've seen of it). The key structural points are virtually identical, but there is enough of a difference on the surface level for this to feel like an independent storyline.

I know what happens in the Morgan storyline but I've only seen a few scenes here and there so this is the first time I'll see it fully play out. Is she a fan favorite villain? Is Sarah Buxton a good actress or are we talking more like Andrea Evans camp?

I, too, have only seen some but not all the epis with Morgan. I hope it isn't like when they introduce a new character with all this mystery and promise, and then they don't know what to do with them. I miss the days of characters with intention who actually brought drama and soapinesss, even in the most far fetched storyline. I go back and watch the Angela storyline quite a bit, bc altho pretty silly in real life, it was one of the soapier stories that I enjoyed. And the actors introduced had a clear purpose as the plot unfolded. Plus SF was really fantastic in that storyline to give it the depth it required to keep it from going campy.

​​@@NewYorkNick0607yes, I was hoping you'd help me look for those parallels as I know this is your area of expertise and I'm mostly familiar with the key plot points (enough of which are present in the Morgan storyline to convince me that it _is_ based on the Sheila storyline)! 😊 I don't know what the fan response was to Morgan in general. The first time I watched it, I wasn't too into the storyline, but it has grown on me since, but I remember it more for the plot than the characterization or acting. One obvious sign already that we are to make the Sheila connection, of course, is Morgan being hired by Brooke as a "liaison" because Brooke doesn't get along with the Forresters, mirroring the situation in 1993. And there's also the way that Morgan's actions will be like a villainous extension of Brooke (as they are a kind of payback to Ridge and Taylor for their part in the Venice scheme), just like Sheila's were in the 90s.
