In that conversation with Brooke and Deacon, where Brooke said that she understood Deacon and believed him, you could see Brooke suddenly realizing something about herself when Deacon spoke of wanting a "healthy" relationship - because that is the word Brooke has used about her own relationship with Thorne. And it's like she realizes that just like Deacon is using that word to imply that he's giving up on what he can't have and settling for what he can have, Brooke has been settling for Thorne because she couldn't have Ridge.

The real karma is how the Bridget/Deacon situation is like a mirror image of Brooke and Thorne's marriage. The moment Deacon said he wanted a "healthy" relationship, you could see something cIick inside Brooke because that has been how she's described her own relationship with Thorne. And today, for the first time, when Brooke told Deacon that she believed him, you could see Brooke realizing the truth about her own feelings for Thorne. She could see Deacon choosing a "safe" relationship to replace the "soulmate" who was unavailable, exactly the way Brooke chose Thorne when she realized that she didn't have a chance with Ridge. This scene foreshadows the end of Brooke's marriage to Thorne.

Initially, to protect her daughter, but then her angry confrontation with Deacon soon evolves into something else, like desire perhaps..?
