Bold sir john he wore his mask, Although it feels so thick, Forgive the fools, who reccomend, All day in crowds it's fine to spend, Shut up your doors and windows friends, For coughing makes you sick. Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, Shut up your doors and windows friends, For cough, for cough, for cough, for cough, For coughing makes you sick.

When Bold Sir John at night rode forth A precious gift he found Wherewith he could anoint with charm The lover’s favour on his arm For Cupid’s flower lay in the moon’s Wan carpet on the ground. FOR CU FOR CU FOR CU FOR CU For Cupid’s flower lay in the moon’s WAN CAR WAN CAR WAN CAR WAN CAR Wan carpet on the ground.

Bold Sir John observed the troops marching past with pride He said their bravery must be praised today and on all other days Our soldiers do all fight for us with pistols at their sides Our sol, our sol, our sol, our sol, our soldiers do all fight for us With pis, with pis, with pis, with pis, with pistols at their sides

How about a seasonal verse... Be bold, Sir John, the year goes on, and soon it will expire, To woo a maiden to your arms you must use all your goodly charms, Stuff Yule logs on the fire, I hope you get your hearts desire, Stuff Yu... stuff yu... stuff yu... stuff yu... stuff Yule logs on the open fire, You get... you get.. you get.. you get... you get your hearts desire!

@Inkyminkyzizwoz It's true that the primary meaning of the word has come to mean 'homosexual' instead of 'carefree', but 'homosexual' has been hinted at by the word 'gay' for a couple of hundred years. Its use in tongue-in-cheek scenarios such as this is part of the reason it came into the public vernacular. Carry On films and Monty Python were especially good at slipping this word in as a wink to its younger audiences who would be more familiar with the word in its modern use.

@wsjulz I agree, a lot more intellect and wordplay has gone into this sketch, and as such The Two Ronnies struck that rare balance of being genuinely funny and yet suitable for all ages. But the 'vulgarity' you speak of in today's comedy has its place. Times have changed such that comedy writers and viewers feel less reserved laughing at the vulgarity that has always been present in real life, that previous generations just felt more uptight about televising. As such, a handful of these more

@Scotsbell The full video used to be on youtube, perhaps the person who posted it has removed it, or it has been removed by the powers that be.
@MCDOUGALLSON Difference is, it takes a modicum of brainpower and knowledge of the english language to work this out to get it past censors. Anyone can say fuck.
