Macy broke my heart today. Brava Bobbie Eakes. On a lighter note, Ridge storming around yelling like an angry teenager while Massimo speaks calmly and veerrrryyy slowly to him, as if he was a special-needs person or a toddler, is kind of hilarious.

She did do a great job with today's scenes. BE portrays strong emotion, especially despair and heartbreak, very convincingly without overdoing it (which is probably why the writers have Macy go through so many tragedies).

_This_ is how Amber should have reacted last year when she had the miscarriage. BE's performance is much more understated but that somehow makes it more poignant. You can see the exact moment when it dawns on Macy what has happened and it's heartbreaking.

Exactly.. I felt for Macy, whereas I felt nothing for Amber. Even Taylor's reaction when she thought she lost Steffy.. Was good. But sometimes over the top. Macy was one of the better actresses on the show.

Great point Annie! I've said this before that BE has a gift as a performer - she comes across as completely sympathetic and relatable which helps steer Macy even through the bad writing. It's a quality that enhances her acting but it's separate from her acting talent because it's not something every actor can learn or mimic. Y&R fans (shoutout to Trish) will know that Sharon Case has this same quality. Both of these actresses were born to play Good Girls.

I just find it interesting, that Brooke isn't given any story lines like what Macy is dealing with., that has substance. I find it odd that Brooke wants Bridgette, as well as Eric to be her maid of honor, especially after the Deacon affair, it's like rubbing salt in the wounds.

Macy wondering "what's the reason for this?" while Thorne stops Darla from having the ab or tion makes it seem like the whole purpose of Macy's tragedy was so that Aly could be born. Ironically, Macy's hysterectomy ends up saving the life of a child she will never know. And when Thorne makes this connection and goes to prevent Darla from ending the pregnancy so that he can give Darla's child to Macy, he is telling himself that he is doing it for Macy, when it is obvious that he is really doing it for himself. Macy could adopt any child (and it would probably be healthier for her to adopt any child _but_ this one), but Thorne will only ever have _this_ biological child, and he is not willing to give up that chance. Thorne is being seIfish here because what he is suggesting is not fair to Macy or to Darla, and yet it is somewhat understandable, in the sense that Thorne wanted a biological child just as much as Macy did, and is just as devastated as she is that they won't be having one together. Thorne wants to have his cake and eat it (both his marriage and his child), but I can't completely fauIt him for it, given his emotional state at this time.

Thorne is supposed to be the nice, kind, loving son, but really as a character has always been crazy and irrational, and super selfish.. Since the days of Caroline. And I also think back to the days when he was trying to get Taylor to marry him, and was willing to pretend his own brother's child was his, even so far as wanting to put his name on Thomas birth certificate. He's always doing things to suit his best interest.

@@FayeIL yes, this is one instance when we saw on screen that Thorne and Macy's lives were being disrupted through no fauIt of their own - and that truth _never_ comes out, but instead Macy will believe that Thorne once again che at ed on her with another woman. And the sad thing is that as seIfish as Thorne is being by asking for Darla to give Macy the baby, Thorne really has _no winning moves_ in this situation - a situation which he did not create. Whether or not Darla ends the pregnancy, the secret remains and may eventually reach Macy, and then she wouldn't feel any better knowing that Thorne sacrificed his only biological child for her than she'd feel about being expected to raise it. Remember that Macy is very strongly against ab or tion.
