Steffy kept trying to give him away and Hope kept pushing him off... So...... We all know by this point that Liam would have rather been with Steffy. But, they kept saying it: promised and obligations and guilt... Liam wanted to do the honorable thing and for him that meant saying with Hope! But as we can also see - he wouldn't let Steffy go either and he won't stay away from Steffy; they were "friends!" Which they were but it was obviously more - which was the problem. Hope and Brooke had wanted Liam but Hope couldnt deal with the reality of what that meant after he fell in love with Steffy. Not for a lack of trying! By this point, Liam had been repeatedly disrespecting Hope. She had every right to react the way she did! The problem I'm GOING TO HAVE is when she takes her stand - the right one - and then takes it ALL back! She let Brooke and her incessant need to have Liam pull her back into the madness that became Lope and it's never ending! But it's dysfunctional and vicious! Notice I didn't say he didn't love Hope.
