That's how I feel when it comes to anything to do with Sheila, including back when I watched Y&R. I have a visceral reaction when her name is even spoken. I will be taking a hiatus from B&B, as long as she's back on the show.

Why is Thorne still wearing his wedding ring?? He’s in love with Brooke and was planning on divorcing Macy - take it off out of respect to her at least.

Brad's lust for his work wife must've been the strongest during this era and through 2002 with Deacon. No matter how awful Brooke is she's still being portrayed as a victim that no man can resist. Letting his fantasies come to life through the writing 🤢🤮

The writing this season is a mixed bag with some solid Bill Bell story structuring and some lame Brad Bell pacing and sequencing. For instance, there is some great plot integration with Clarke and CJ coming out of Macy's storyline justifiably angry at the Forresters. That nicely sets up their motivations in two other storylines: Clarke as Morgan's sidekick as she plots to secretly have Ridge's baby and CJ eventually sparring with Rick over custody of Little Eric. Yet at the same time, both "completed" storylines (Becky's death and Macy's death) have important missing scenes and beats. After Becky's diagnosis was kept a secret from her for so long, we didn't get the payoff of seeing her find out she had cancer - that maddeningly occurred offscreen. Similarly Stephanie was kept in the dark about Thorne and Brooke for so long and while we did see that explode at the funeral, we still didn't get to see Stephanie finding out that Macy had died or the scene where Eric and Ridge tell her what they did in Venice.
@annieo6527
@annieo6527 7 ай бұрын
Great points! And the scenes themselves are also very uneven in quality. We get the compelling scene of Stephanie's "intervention" with Thorne, and then scenes like Taylor/Morgan treading water. This season has some of the most powerfuI scenes I have seen on the show (notably episodes 3342 and 3345), mixed with some very obvious missed beats (like the ones you pointed out). I agree about the plot integration and this occurred to me too - the show actually uses Macy as a "posthumous character" to motivate other characters in their own storylines. (Interestingly, "Alive Macy" did _not_ usually have this kind of agency.)

It really, really irked me how everyone seemed to give Thorne a pass in this episode - Kimberly, even Stephanie (after her amazing pyrotechnics in yesterday's episodes) - while solely blaming Brooke for Macy's demise. Brooke of course played her part, but ultimately it was Thorne who pursued Macy this time around; Thorne who persuaded her to marry him; Thorne who betrayed the many, many years of history they had together. It feels like the show is already undoing the funeral. They even have the nerve to try and make Thorne the good guy in this episode (concernedly suggesting counseling for Kimberly). I really liked Stephanie's proposed punishment for Thorne; it showed her cleverness. Stephanie knows that Brooke's attraction to the Forrester men has always been about acceptance into the Forrester clan and world as it has been about the man she's pursuing. By taking that attraction away -"if Thorne takes up with you, we're cutting him out of the family" -she's removing a significant selling point for Brooke. Line of the day: Thorne to Brooke, "everyone's out to nail you" - I mean 😅.
@annieo6527
@annieo6527 7 ай бұрын
Wow, that is an excellent point! You are so right - this way, Brooke _still_ won't end up being an accepted member of the Forrester family, even if she marries Thorne. And yes, I would agree that Thorne's responsibility for Macy's unhappiness and death is greater than Brooke's. And yet Macy made excuses for him, and so will Kimberly.
@singularitiny
@singularitiny 7 ай бұрын
Well to be fair they gave Thorne a handful too but the reason their anger is mostly targeted at Brooke is because, what she’s done to Macy only adds to the pile of garbage she’s done to so many people and they’ve all had it with her.

A stalker storyline for Brooke could have actually worked more effectively than the Brooke/Thorne/Kimberly triangle. Given how devoted Kimberly was to Macy, any sort of romantic interest in Thorne seems misplaced. Going from the good girl/homewrecker to unhinged stalker seems more accurate.
@annieo6527
@annieo6527 7 ай бұрын
Actually, I think Kimberly believing herself to be romantically interested in Thorne makes sense. She is projecting and trying to fill the void after her sister by _becoming_ Macy. She will move into Macy's house, change her hair color to resemble Macy's, develop feelings for Thorne, even sing to him at the Insomnia.

They can ban Thorne from coming to the Forrester Mansion. But has Thorne even come that often to the Mansion? They can't really fire Thorne from FC. Brooke is the CEO and owns the majority. She could and would just undo any firing. What lesson would that teach Thorne? Brooke might just fire Ridge and Eric in return (has already hired Morgan so that Brooke does not have to deal with them directly).If Stephanie and Eric really still had that power at FC, Morgan would not be a FC designer in the first place.
