This entire episode shows how Brooke and Amber create confIict _in front of Little Eric_ (Brooke by leaving without an explanation, and Amber by interrupting the entire ceremony), while Deacon, Macy and the Spectras are working overtime to keep things civiI and calm the situation down - first Macy _makes excuses for Brooke_ by telling Eric that she probably wasn't feeling very well but she would be fine, then Sally has to tell Clarke to take Eric outside so he won't have to witness Amber's meItdown, and finally both Deacon and Macy try to reassure Amber but to no avail. It really is no wonder that Macy and Deacon eventually do lose their patience with Amber (and it's kind of cathartic to hear Macy declare that she has finally *had it* with everyone and their mother trying to stop her wedding).

@@annieo6527 Yeah right, he just randomly put of the blue wants the kid when he gets involved with a woman who found out she can't have any. He lets Macy act like a mother to him and she just met him. Amber has been there since he was born. Amber has more rights to be called a mother than Macy. They are taking him from Amber because Amber won't have any legal say with the boy. She knows that legal papers are what matters, not what Deacon or Macy say. Stephanie told Brooke as much that she was there to support Amber because she knows that Amber is going to lose him regardless of what Deacon or Macy say.

@trfandom250 but that is not how this storyline has played out so far. Deacon wanted to see Hope before he even met Macy. Macy encouraged him to see his children long before she got romantically involved with Deacon. And what caused the problem was not Deacon trying to take his children away from their homes, it was Rick and Brooke not allowing him to see his own children _at all._ Getting back his parental rights is the only way he can protect himself and his son from their relationship being systematically sabotaged. It may be different in California, but where I live, parents can actually lose custody if they prevent their child from seeing the other parent. The parent most willing to work together with the other parent in order to reach an agreement is the one most likely to get custody. And in this scenario, the one who has been the most willing to co-parent is Deacon.

That’s why It is starting to look like an obsession because Now she’s showing signs of irrational paranoia about losing him after she has been reassured by Deacon and Macy multiple times. Yes Amber loves him but when you account that Eric was taken as a replacement for her own dead baby, and her other miscarriage, Amber has likely developed an obsession with holding on to him.

Bad idea to invite Amber and Rick to the wedding, when neither of them had any time to come to terms with Deacon now being "a changed man" . Deacon's last marriage (to Rick's sister) was just a play to turn over the custody agreement and to get his son (and Amber) back. Maybe they better would have first invited Amber and Rick to some couple counseling session with that same priest to discuss the past and how to build up some trust, for little Eric's sake.

Rick expected them to play nice (and put Eric's suitcase in Deacon's car), while Amber spiraled downwards, being confronted with Deacon, Macy and Eric becoming the new main family unit. Look how long it has taken Corky just to process that he wouldn't take money for playing his friend a prank (and he returned to the house). I am not sure if Macy has really processed yet the whole situation, when she just told Brooke that with Macy moving on with Deacon, Brooke, the mother of Deacon's daughter and -currently- grandmother of little Eric, would be *out* of Macy's life for good.

And regardless of Deacon's and Macy's words, I can't blame anyone for distrusting Deacon, when Deacon once had signed over the paternal rights and had allowed Amber to leave with the boy, but afterwards Deacon got involved with naive Bridget, married her and used that marriage in his play to break up Amber's marriage and to get Amber and the boy back.
