The Ridge/Stephanie scene is a nice mix of Storytelling features. First Ridge makes explicit what I've been saying about him being just an object for the women to fight over: "My wives are doing battle in court. Presumably I'm the prize." Then Stephanie tries to take this battle out of the realm of the law by reminding Ridge that _he_ is the ultimate arbiter: "It's a matter of the heart." (0:45) As the show's dominant Storyteller, this is a better position for Stephanie because she has influence over Ridge and he is her creation, whereas she has very little influence over the court proceedings. It's also a nice return to form for her from the dreary Jessica/Dylan statutory charge storyline where Stephanie had largely surrendered plot control to the court. It's an indication that she wants the show to be a romantic drama again, not a legal drama. And finally at 6:45 Ridge makes a statement that confirms the primacy of the heart over the law and even over reality itself: he declares Brooke his wife (which is not what the _court_ will determine but is what _Ridge_ will decide) and "the mother of my child" (which we know is not true but it _feels_ true to Ridge in this moment).

In a way, the legal issue and the matter of the heart are two separate things. Ridge's choice is a "matter of the heart". But Taylor's marriage to _Omar_ is a "legal matter" and one that needs to be resolved in order to free Taylor once and for all from Omar's influence _while maintaining her Good Girl status._ If she is to walk out on a prince, a country and an orphan choir with her "Goodness" intact, the show needs to establish that she has _no obligation and no commitment_ to Omar - that her vows to him were, in the eyes of the law (and in the eyes of the show's plot logic), meaningless. It is the only way to finally free her of the mess that is the Omar storyline.

The fact Brooke losses it in Barbados, simply shows what a delusional person she is. I mean who goes crazy just because you find out your child has a different father. I get that it comes out of the blue but the fact that she leaves her children just because she no longer has her golden ticket to hold on to Ridge, should say it all. She is more upset at the thought of losing Ridge then she is being a good mom and helping child through a difficult situation. That storyline really drives the point home and how much of a narcissist she is.

I could have sympathy for Brooke if she had given Taylor an ounce of compassion. My heart does break for Taylor even though I don't think Ridge deserves her. What Omar did was a crime and to think, he thinks he's actually the good guy. Just like Brooke. If Ridge wants to stay with delusional Brooke let him, she will make his life hell. He is acting like a passive observer when he could end this if he was just honest with both women but he can't man up and be honest. One major difference between Brooke and Taylor is that Taylor is an actual victim of multiple crimes but she doesn't use that to her advantage. Brooke on the other hand behaves like the eternal victim and she is not. She uses that fake victim hood to manipulate Ridge and anyone else she can. I also don't understand Connor and why he thinks Brooke has a winning case. James told him what really happened to Taylor and you would think that as a lawyer he would know that a marriage by coercing someone isn't valid even if there is a wedding certificate. The fact that he gave her a completely different name should be glaringly obvious. Taylor was right there was no divorce nor was she dead. She is still legally married to Ridge, no matter how much Brooke thinks otherwise.

The current storyline is beyond boring. I fast forwarded through most of last week during the whole Bill, Poppy, Luna and RJ scenes. I can't stand the new RJ. I find him to be extremely annoying and unlikable. I didn't even watch this week's episodes with Eric and Donna getting married because I'm so tired of the Logan's getting everything. They should rename it to "The Logan's Always Win" show. The problem is that they don't have enough young people on the show. At least they didn't for awhile. It was just Steffy, Hope, Liam, Wyatt, Thomas and Finn. They stopped using Wyatt when flo left and now Liam doesn't have a storyline. Bringing in RJ and Luna was a good idea but they paired them up to soon and now they are just boring to watch.

Right, that's why little Eric ends up shooting his stepfather Grant, because Brooke is such a good mother. Brooke puts her children through hell because she cares more about getting a man (usually Ridge) then being a parent. A good parent doesn't lose her mind just because she learns that her child has a different father. Brooke is more concerned with herself and losing Ridge to Taylor, than putting her children first. A good mother keeps it together and is there for the child because she knows that this only affects the child. Brooke is a narcissist and narcissists as a general rule are horrible parents. Brooke forces a father son relationship on little Eric (soon to be Rick) and Ridge, knowing that Ridge is his half brother. A good mother wouldn't do that knowing that there would be sever physiological trauma placed upon the child. Brooke even ends up marrying Grant (in the future) someone she doesn't love and brings him into the family as the stepfather. This sends Rick aka little Eric into a state of rage and he ends up shooting Grant. Brooke proves over and over again that she always puts her needs above her childrens. She is a horrible mother!

So weird how they want to portray Brooke sympathetically but the character is made to look aged and unattractive in these scenes and she's always using her children. And the way the actress plays her as well -- those harsh and pouty expressions, that mewling voice -- does not convey poise or honor. Brooke always has a scheming and hungry look that's more associated with the _villain_ in a soap. This is not a dig at the actress because playing a villain is more fun than playing a heroine and she's quite good at it! Brooke just doesn't make a convincing heroine.

I wouldn't say she's a villain exactly - more like an ambiguous character who was mainly written as a Bad Girl during the Bill Bell years, but who since Brad 🔔took over is being transitioned into the "heroine" role. You can see how the show tries to achieve this by trying her in different roles throughout the late 90s - the wife (Taylor), the vic tim (Macy), the mother (Stephanie), and then in the late 90s they give up this attempt and instead make her an exaggerated version of Bad Girl Brooke (starting with Brooke's Bedroom, and culminating in the Deacon affair).

I think that is wrong... Taylor was presumed dead, she married someone else. Brooke and Ridge should continue to be married. And of course the last word should be Ridge's to decide who he wants to be married to, in my opinion.

I didn't pick up on this at the time this aired, but now that I'm seeing it again, it's kind of baffling that it's a choice of whose marriage to Ridge is valid. Taylor was declared dead. That means her marriage to Ridge automatically dissolved, unless I'm missing something (I'd never claim to be a legal scholar). In that case, Ridge's marriage to Brooke would be valid. If he wanted to divorce Brooke or if he could file for an annulment because of the unusual circumstances, and then remarry Taylor, that would be something entirely different. But then again, B&B has always played fast and loose with the law, especially when it comes to marriages and divorces. ;) Ridge would have loved it if he could have been married to both Brooke and Taylor at the same time. He loves having women fight over him. (And that's true even today with Thorsten Kaye in the role.)

Omar and Ridge should switch places. Don't many Middle Eastern countries allow polygamy? Ridge could go there and be married to both. Then, the fight will be who his "lead" wife is. Omar could stay in the States and be devoted to one woman. I know how this judge ends up ruling, but I see what every party could do to minimize this conflict. First, Ridge could decide whom he wants, while Taylor could own up to being "away" for a year and swooping in like no time has passed. Finally, Omar could get off his high horse and realize that love is also letting go. Poor Brooke, though, she's at the mercy of this decision.

Yes, Taylor had to 'die' twice so Brooke could marry Ridge (1st presumed death) and get Ridge's child (2nd presumed death). Tridge made B&B great and vice versa.
