Something a lot of reactors aren't touching on is the fact Gojo said " *WE* are the strongest." He didn't say "I", he said "we". That's important. Remember that. The only one Gojo thought his equal was Geto. Wow. This is the best discussion I've seen out of the first episode, it is actually quite spot on. Suguru and Satoru were each other's moral compass, they knew where they stood and could stand by their believes because the other one could as well. That was spot on, I'm surprised. I'd like to add that yes, Cursed Techniques do play into what people are like, because they are intrinsically linked to personality. Please remember Mei Mei and Utahime are older!! They already graduated. Gojo and Geto were anomalies, they were both the strongest, Gojo was a prodigy, and Geto had a unique CT. Also, you'll understand the reason why they seem to have more of a hold or an eye on the new gen than them as this progresses. This was honestly fantastic, can't wait to see the next eps, and see your reactions to them.

Agreed. It's kinda unfair for the first year trio or jjk 0 team. They're being throw right away to a messed up situation. Even Megumi and Yuji first meet, literally him being Sukuna's vessel with execution on his head, and just weeks later, yuji died and all that pressing stuff happened. They can't enjoyed their youth playing around.

Great reaction! I'm glad Carson appreciates the plot-driven + good written characters + (bonus) high powered genre. I like that you guys did a rewatch of S1 and the movie, because, yeah, a lot of the details and dialogue get buried under the fight scenes and Gojo's beautiful eyes. Obviously the animation and art are amazing, but I'm happier that you guys are having an intelligent discussion about JJK, because this is where, like Gojo & Geto said, the "moral arguments" clash. I've seen others get disappointed because they thought S2E1 would be action packed right from the start. That's fair, it's their preference and opinion. I just find it a shame that they gloss over how in this part of the timeline, Geto's the "good" guy, while Gojo's the "bad" guy....and they're not wondering how the the hell that flipped around.

This episode had animator all star team on it. It’s crazy who they got for the first episode. So season 2 schedule has been released Hidden inventory 7/6-8/3. 5 episodes Then basically a 5 week break, ep replays, jjk zero, a S1 recap episode. Next arc, Shibuya starts 8/31. If quality stays like this for the entire 24 episode run, I’ll be ecstatic. Shibuya definitely deserves maximum budget.

Hidden Inventory arc is imo the most consistent, high quality and efficient (both in storytelling, pacing and humour) JJK anime-arc ever. And tbh its probably in my top 5 favorite anime arcs as well. It's just so snappy and doesn't waste a single second of screen time, it's almost unreal how they manage to tell so much in just 5 eps... Not to mention that the animation, art-style and OST are absolutely god-tier

Technically the first half of this ep, ep1, was intentional padding so that they can line up the events each episode but yeah I agree the choice to write a prequel arc to set up hints for S2ep9 events was a perfect move by Gege.

Also I love how attentive you guys are. Some of the most intelligent reactors out there. Love your reactions. JJK is one of the best battle shonen manga going right now. Dark trio is some of my favorite mangas in recent years. I do wish you gave hells paradise more of a chance. But I understand why a lot of people dropped it. It doesn’t help that Mappa did it dirty. It deserves this budget too. budget went to JJK and Vinland Saga this season. Don’t get me wrong, JJK and Vinland saga deserve it too. Hells paradise has a pretty slow start. it really doesn’t get into its groove, and super interesting till the end of the 1st arc and then entire 2nd arc. Or I guess in anime terms. The last 3 episodes. introduce power system and last episode introduces the major plot twist. Hopefully they give it more budget in season 2.

Really interesting that personally i don't realise jjk is a very plot focus story you guys point it out... and the think is im so agree with that statement! And it just show how good jjk presenting their character that some people like me may not feel that it very leaning towards the plot!! Btw this is just a recommendation that u guys may watch it in your leasure time (like you don't have to react to it (although many people will be tearing in joy if you guys do it), but im REAAAALY SURE it would be a great experience even only to watch it by your own). The Mei Mei and Utahime scene wasn't that long in the manga. It started with just them walking/running in the manor while speaking and the corridor expanding. Then suddenly the manor explodes and Gojou shows up. The change makes sense here because everyone has been bombarded with promotional material and knows this arc is a flash-back arc, however in the manga this In Medias Res beginning of the past arc made it quite a surprise because no one expected it. And in my book more Utahime screentime is always a good news ^^. PS : It's the same Math as in the twitch stream. Already thoroughly enjoying your season 2 reactions, they're all I hoped for and more.

Gojo's spunky confidence in battle is something he has had since he was a kid it seems, but he's a lot more airheaded and cocky here than he is in present day. Here its Geto that keeps him grounded, but in current time he has to keep himself grounded at times because well...............sadness happened.

For now I'm over the moon with this adaptation. Again it's extremely faithful, a good 97%, but they added SO MUCH. Honestly the visuals have become so crazy it's almost overwhelming, even me who already knows the story and dialogues I got a little lost revelling in the visuals. Season 1 can already be confusing at times cause JJK is more complex than appearances might show, but now if season 2 offers us so much eye candy I can absolutely see even more people missing key details since everything is going to get even more layered. The only thing I could complain about is how they skipped a chapter, but I'm fairly certain it's going to be adapted later. If they don't adapt it tho you'll absolutely hear from me cause It's an unasuming but actually really important one !

Yuji ends up recognizing the girl despite her having lost weight. Not only this chapter showcases a foreshadowing for the Higuruma fight (Yuji going to pachinko parlor), but it also shows a new part of Yuji we hadn't seen much of, in addition to have quite a bit of slice of life/character interaction between the trio.

Great theories right off the bat Carson! To tie the two together, I think Gojo didn't actually (think he) killed Geto at the end of the movie, I personally think he let him go; further reinforcing the idea that Gojo is actively undermining the general Jujutsu society to shape his own world. With the first episode, and I think a question Geto posed in the movie (?) something along the lines of "Are you the strongest because you're Satoru Gojo, or are you Satoru Gojo because you're the strongest?", it seems likely Gojo has some sort of grander scheme than just being a goofy OP god sorcerer who doesn't intend on doing anything with that one in a million coincidence of him getting the Six Eyes and his technique, as well as Sukuna manifesting in Yuji. Also both of your haircuts look great this episode!

Also if your idea of Noritoshi Kamo with the umbrella holds any merit (obviously they edited the umbrella out of the scene where Geto and the disaster curses are about to burn a restaurant full of people, duh) I'm calling a shot right now where the little points on the umbrella line up with the scars on Geto's forehead, they're simple lines but that would be the most wicked transition I can imagine.

Just so you know, even if it was a prototype all of Volume 0 is canon. So don't expect characters's abilities to be retconned or anything. I feel like it needs to be said because of your comment about Geto eating cursed spirits

It actually is soft retconned. For example, when geto sees yuta using curse speech, he says that curse speech si an advanced technique so it is impressive that yuta can do it after less than an year of starting learning jujutsu. That's probably because initially gege thought about a power system like nen where everybody can technically learn an ability, and not about the current power system where innate curse techniques are... innate...

Moreover, he doesn't have the cursed speech marks around his mouth, so it is clear that he isn't a cursed speech users. You can technically bring excuses for any action, which is why it's a soft retcon. If there was no retcon you wouldn't have to bring any excuse because it would flow well with the content of the main series

At this point I'm just convinced that MAPPA's picking favorites and JJK is the one they picked. Hell's Paradise and Chainsaw man ain't getting this treatment, even though I like Chainsaw Man as a story way more, I have to painfully admit that slice of life scenes are the only thing animated amazingly in it. I don't condone harassment of the CSM director, but I am somewhat hopeful to see how this rumored new director would do it.

were you watching CSM with your eyes closed? they went off modelsometimes and the composition was weird in some dialogue scenes, but everything else is outstanding and above most anime, in terms of direction and story boarding. Also the fights are the so well animated not only the slice of life moments and they use slo mo like in all of them which is freaking crazy time consuming and hard to do

@@yosos2 the problem is that the fights weren't JJK LEVEL well animated. And mappa themselves give the reason for this that the whole funding for the project came from the studio itself. The slice of life scenes were some of the best animation I've seen in a while, but the fight scenes did not have the level of Dynamic pacing of JJK nor did they do the art like the manga. I totally understand the art part, the medium of anime can't replicate a good manga's art, but the fight scene animation part was definitely something they could've done had they had outsourced the budget and had a different team working on it.

@@AStixMatism they tried for realistic look . That's why no over the top action. And if you know it's actually harder to animate realistic fights than over the top action. Frames increase and character needs to be consistent . If you look at jjk fights detailing decreases and background becomes basic but in chainsawman detailing didn't dip a bit . Jjk has better choreography though but they took different route . Don't compare one is hyper realistic and other is more shonen over the top.

@@manhwaworld7961 exactly my point, realistic was not the approach to go for here, since realistic is a lot more difficult to animate they had to compromise by using CGI, and i know not all cgi is bad cgi, but CSM had its moments... If you'd seen the way a studio like WIT animates "realistic" action in series like Vivy, vinland saga etc you'd know what I mean

@@AStixMatism they only used cgi on chainsaw form and no studio would have done it in 2d . It has constant moving blades all the time which is kinda not practical to 2d draw. But where else did they use cgi all humans and monsters were 2d , background was 2d. And wit studio animation was realistic but not as chainsawman. Just look at way characters walk in csm and then look at Vinland or vivy. Or the finger moments or the way they sit its way more frames.

We watched 0 in theatres when it came out, but Lindsay literally forgot ALL of it, so we just re-reacted to it and you can see all 3 vods on patreon for $2 Like I said Lindsay didn’t remember literally anything from the movie so it’s kind of like a fresh reaction and we give a lot of theorizing and analysis throughout
